I’m sure I’m overreacting, but every time they show Ayton in these videos, his dribbling looks totally mechanical and all of his moves are away from contact.

He’s not going to develop skills that quickly, but we need to see him aggressively trying to do it in games. I also think the ship has sailed when it comes to drawing contact from defenders.

It would be an overreaction to assume all of that would change over the span of a few months.

How are these moves away from contact? Just because there weren't any defenders on the court?

They've been posting them for a few days. Watch all of the ones where he's going 1-on-1 against Mark Bryant or the other bigs. It's all finesse stuff and fadeaways. Never trying to put a guy into the basket after a pump-fake.
