Man, if this team had 3-point shooting like this every night, we might actually win some games. Ayton is really impressive every game; I am so happy with him. Both of the Houston guys (Ariza and Anderson) played well for us tonight, which was good to see.

Josh Jackson shoots 3-12. I think my nickname for him is going to be "the net negative." He throws a nice alleyoop to Ayton once a night, and he runs a few good plays for our offense, but the rest is just awful. I really dislike watching him play.

I liked Melton's play in this game. He seems to have a toughness and a physical presence when he drives to the basket. Dunno what is the best role for him, but he seems like a player.

I know preseason doesn't matter, but it was really neat to see our guys beat the Warriors in any context. And it's not like the Ws didn't try at all; Curry and Durant each played 24 minutes, Kerr got fired enough to get himself ejected, etc.

They could all just have played better to attract some trade interest... You can't read into it either way other than the games have been pretty bad for anyone not names Ayton until now.

Why in the heck would you play better to get yourself traded?!

I think the firing did have an effect. He was fired because of their performance. That would effect my performance. Whether they liked him or not it is still a reaction to their performance on the court and would send a signal to me as a player that I need to step it up.

If so, let's hope it's a lasting effect.

Pretty crazy, eh? Only once since Nash left.

It honestly leaves me a little more optimistic about the season. Yes, it's only pre-season, but the offense is also only in its infancy.

I think Vegas is right on the mark with 29.5 wins. We looked like a <25 win team after the first three games, and a ~35 win team last night.

Makes me wonder if McD would still have a job if the team had played like this on Friday. Showed a lot more intensity all around this game.
coach igor was already sending warning signal...

Ehhh....how much does a GM really affect the team on the day-to-day? I agree the intensity was at a different level but I was thinking Igor's words did more to light a fire, and Ariza and Anderson hitting shots early gave everyone some confidence. I don't doubt the news shook the team up a bit but I don't think last night was a response to it the way the team flipped the switch after W****n was fired.
I'm with you. My question still stands. I'm wondering if Sarver's firing of McD was triggered by the team's lackluster start to preseason. If they had played with that same intensity from the start, would McD still have his job?
I'd guess he's been thinking about doing it for awhile. The poor play was an excuse to fire him, but it was coming eventually.
It may even go back to last year. He probably kept Ryan around to groom James Jones for a year.

This was the first time Igor’s offense looked great and made sense. GS actually seemed to be trying for the most part in the first half. It was great seeing the team catch fire. Book is gonna be good in the offense for sure.
I think Rozier would really work well in Igor’s offense similarly to how he did well under Stevens (not comparing Igor to Stevens). Im so relieved to see the Suns actually have a philosophy to their offense in lieu of guys standing and watching Booker get double teamed all game. Booker with Ayton and other shooters on the floor is gonna avg at least 26ppg and 5 assists pg.

Very possible. We haven't exactly been very good, so he's probably been on the hot seat for awhile.

He did the same with Watson, right?

Weird seeing this after the comments from last few games.
I'm firmly in TJs corner and have been since we drafted him. I'd prefer him over Jackson tbh.

Josh Jackson is a Net Negative. TJ is not. TJ is the better and more useful player.

After Jackson's rookie year? Sure. I would hope so. However, there is a good chance Jackson becomes the better player.
