I was glad to see him and Randle fit well in NO. They are IQ guys and I think AD and Gentry can get them competing every night.

Meanwhile we'll get to see Canaan. We have 1 NBA caliber G right now.
8/7/6 isn't so bad. But if it makes you feel better, go ahead and laugh. Payton had one 10/10/10 game for us too. At least he cut his hair for the Pels.

He also got abused defensively, Canaan is just a guy, a placeholder at best.

For sure he's a placeholder. Just saying he wasn't horrible this game.

Words can't express how glad he's not on this team. He's a good guy, fine. But he's terrible at basketball and was inexcusably out of shape last year for a guy who supposed to be a "veteran leader".

Gentry basically played 7 1/2 guys. If he keeps that up, injuries will show up soon. AD and Jrue shouldn't be playing 38-39 minutes.

Gentry played 8 guys.

phx-suns.net loves to say that players can't play 38 minutes, but lots of stars do.

Early hot take: Alvin Gentry wins Coach of the Year award.
I think Coach Bud has a great shot at winning CotY.

There's a good chance that Bud wins CoY and Davis wins MVP or Gentry wins CoY and Giannis wins MVP. All 4 of those guys could get a lot of attention this season.

I like the Pelicans, but I'd be kind of shocked if they are higher than 5-6 in the West. And usually CotY isn't from a team that low in the standings.

Why would he retire if he can still be making 15m/year? Or even 5? Or 2.5 as a vet min? I am sure it pays better than any TV/commentator or Front Office job he could get.

I just got around to looking at some box scores from around the league, and what the hell is Bickerstaff doing in Memphis? Shelvin Mack played 30 minutes, Marshon Brooks played 22 minutes, while Kyle Anderson played 19 and Dillon Brooks only played 6.

Is Bickerstaff going for the dumbest coach in the league award already? Dave Joerger won't go down without a fight, I'm sure.

I'm still not sure why Bickerstaff was hired in the first place. He was underwhelming as an interim (I think he's been one a few times) and they didn't do any coaching search before giving him the job. It all sounded very familiar.

I'm amazed how fast the Lakers are pushing the ball tonight.
