I don't know about that, ill. I really don't know if does anything for this team.

And I don't get the lack of motor critiques about Bol Bol. He has looked good to me.
He's a playmaker INF, we need those desperately on this team.

if rj still shooting below 65% on free throws by march, I personally would avoid drafting him in the top 2.

I don't think we are getting #1, and the guy who has intrigued me most so far is Bol Bol. But I admit that I don't pay much attention to NCAA stuff and could change my mind later. Are there any awesome PGs projected to go top-5?

I think you're going to see a Dame Lillard like rise in the draft for Ja Morant. His numbers are ridiculous right now. 24/9/7 on 57% from the field?

Ya, Morant is really the only pg I’m interested in the high lottery right now.

I just think this draft is pretty weak. I would’ve taken Zion over doncic or Ayton this year, but no one else would have been in my top 5. Barrett would have been close and still has time to change my opinion. Reddish, Little, Bol, Hunter, and Morant are intriguing, but they might have been outside the top 10 in last years draft. I think I like Hunter the best out of those guys right now.

He is, but he is also a wing and a volume shooter whose jumpshot is suspect. We don't need that.

I really don't see the point of using last year's draft as a measuring stick. And the #1 pick from last year's draft is frequently outplayed by Richaun Holmes. Last year is last year. Let's move on. No need to over-complicate this: you look for players with potential/skillset that can help build a sustainable, winning product on the court. I don't care if it is someone projected for the lottery, lat first round, second round, etc. Look at the talent, look at the skillset, and get the player.

I don’t see any harm in comparing drafts. Was just using it to illustrate what I think about this years draft. Of course I’m no expert and I haven’t spent considerable time watching very many prospects, so my opinion could still change. I’m sure there will be players in this draft that can help us. We’ll see if our front office can identify them.

I think it just needlessly skews evaluation.

I don't agree with INF 100% of the time, but I would feel much better about our team if he were our GM rather than James Jones. Or at least put INFy in charge of college scouting and the draft!

The only problem with that is I don't know if we'd ever have any veterans on the team. I'm definitely with you on the latter.

Talk about damning with faint praise! I think you owe INF an apology.

Spending some time looking into some prospects today... nothing deep, but here’s my thoughts and some guys to watch:

Clear #1 - Zion Williamson

Great player who doesn’t quite fit here - RJ Barrett

Forwards to keep an eye on:
DeAndre Hunter, Cam Reddish, Bol Bol, Grant Williams, Brandon Clarke, Jaxson Hayes

Guards to keep an eye on:
Ja Morant, Jarrett Culver, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Coby White, Lugentz Dort

https://www.thestepien.com/2018/12/16/j ... d-top-100/

I read through this to find some prospects. I didn’t even know who Coby white was before this morning, but he’s putting up impressive numbers.

Thanks for the scouting report. Which forward do you think is closest to "what Dragan Bender was supposed to be"? That is, good defense and rebounding, runs the floor, can spot up and shoot 3s? That's everything I want from the PF position. I know Bol has been doing some outside shooting but I don't know much about his game otherwise.

Haven’t gone deep into these guys yet. Hunter is like a 3/4 combo guy. Small forward height and athleticism but wingspan of a PF. I think he’ll be a plus defender and he’s shooting very well this year from 3. Over 40%. Kinda underwhelmed by his defensive counting stats as he doesn’t block shots or get many steals.

Reddish is also a 3 but might be big enough to play the 4. He’s mostly a shooter in the duke system next to Zion and RJ. He’s a pretty good ball handler and passer though. He’s also getting a lot of steals and has a lot of defensive potential. Although there are motor concerns.

Bol Bol is shooting over 50% from 3, he’s rebounding, and he’s blocking a lot of shots. He’s probably closest to what we wanted bender to become. At least statistically. I haven’t watched him enough to know how he’ll defend the perimeter.

Brandon Clarke puts up crazy numbers. Maybe a little Marion in him? Comes from Phoenix, desert vista hs, but was barely recruited due to late growth spurt and zero jump shot. He’s a high level athlete who is putting up eye dropping numbers for Gonzaga. Shooting like 70% and putting up 25/11/2 per 40 with 2.3 steals and 4.9 blocks. They completely redid his Jim shot and while he’s not a shooter, he’s not a zero there anymore.

Honestly haven’t watched Grant Williams, but Inf has been high on him. He’s putting up intriguing numbers. 6 assists per 40, good rebound numbers and he’s hitting 3’s this year. He might be a little short, but like I said, I haven’t watched him. Inf can probably tell you more.

Jaxson Hayes is long and blocking shots. Not sure he’ll be a shooter though.

I like Morant, but I think it's very unlikely that he's drafted in the top 5 if only because players from schools like Murray State never go that high. Damian Lillard and Steph Curry are really the only recent exceptions, and they went 6th and 7th respectively. I think he's probably a late lottery prospect with great value.

I like that he seems to have large hands, which is an underrated attribute in prospects. I'd be ecstatic if we could get him with a mid round pick.

If Orlando, New York or Phoenix gets a pick in the 3-5 range, with Zion and RJ likely off the table, I could see any of them grabbing Morant. They all need PGs of the future and are either set at the wing or in the frontcourt. Chicago is a viable landing spot too. I think guys like Little, Bol and Reddish present just as much risk, if not more.
