I agree. I just don't want it to seem like if we replace Canaan with a decent PG we will be an average (or even close to average) team. The only way that would work would be for that PG to be able to shoot like Curry and play defense like Murray. That guy doesn't exist.
I actually think there would be a marked improvement with a top 20 PG. Again, we're starting a player that if cut today would pass through the waiver wire and probably not get more than a 2-way deal. Agreed. Someone who draws the defense and let’s Booker and Ariza play how they’re most effective. Ariza isn’t someone who needs to be trying to create his own shot everynight. Someone who actually is good in the pick and roll with Ayton or knows how to pass to the post. That’s not too much to ask for. If we split them into 3rds, I assume the guys #11-20 are average, 21-30 are below average, and 1-10 are good (with some being great). So if you think an average PG won't do much, and we need a good one, does that mean we need a top 10 PG in the NBA? That would be starters. Right now, we have at best a #21-30 backup (or #51-60 overall) as our starter.
