From Tom Ziller - the 3 important things we learned from the Jimmy Butler trade.
1. The Wolves got less for Jimmy than the Spurs got for Kawhi Leonard and the Pacers got for Paul George. We're not even grading Indiana on a curve here given Victor Oladipo's huge rise after the trade: Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis were a better package than Saric and RoCo, especially since Minnesota is also giving up Patton. DeMar DeRozan and Jakob Poeltl are a better package too, even with Danny Green also going to Toronto. Jimmy's stock has fallen, or the Wolves' front office performed worse than the others, or both.

2. Elton Brand is extraordinarily brave. Brand just took over the lead job in the Sixers front office a couple months ago. He just watched Butler ruin the chemistry of a young team with shaky internal leadership. And now he's injecting Jimmy straight into a team with brash Joel Embiid, calm Ben Simmons, and skittish Markelle Fultz. What a huge bet! I love it.

3. Jimmy Butler is absolutely in play this summer. Since Jimmy didn't land with the Heat, Knicks (who were apparently never in the mix, good for them), and Clippers -- three teams he targeted -- it would seem he'll be in play as a free agent this summer. The Sixers can pay to keep him if they want to and if he wants to. It should be interesting to read those tea leaves.

I don't advocate trading for Fultz merely because we're not developing the players we have. So we're going to trade for a broken player that needs a ton of development? That's a no from me, dawg.

I do advocate for someone's previous proposal of Troy Daniels for TJ McConnell. We need a PG that can take care of the ball and attempt to play defense. They need shooting badly.

Do we still think that Fultz is still good?

That is why I am bummed Brooklyn has been playing well. I was hoping that would suck and be willing to trade Dinwiddie. We could use the net rating he provides, and his +40 3P%. Can he throw a ball into a big in the post?

He's starting for them and his numbers are ok. He ought to be better than anything we have.

Let's reverse the question: Any chance the 76ers would do Jackson for Fultz?

no effing way. as you said, he is starting for them, playing 24 mpg, and doing fine. JJ is not.

Sounds like Caris LeVert just had a Paul George/Gordon Hayward level injury. That really sucks.

Does this help you make a decision about Fultz?

I’m so jealous. I just watched the Clippers beat the Warriors and then the Kings beat the Spurs. To add insult to injury, Bogdan and Fox hit big shots down the stretch.

Shouldn't he get to do it over? Isn't that a lane violation?

I want no part of Fultz. He'd break our hearts. And he's not the kind of player we need.
