Re: Around the League: Week 6 11/19-11-25
Zero interest in Fultz, even for free. He is just a distraction at this point. I'd be ok with Jeremy Lin if all it took was filler and a distant second round. Dinwiddie is averaging 15-5 off the bench with good %s and is 25...
This is such a mess. On one hand, a team like PHX can't afford to spend a minimally decent draft asset (MIL 1stR or even our own 2ndR in '19) on a rental. On the other hand, if you don't upgrade at PG, the season is going to be beyond wasted, not just wins wise (a lost cause it seems) but also in terms of development for Ayton and (to a lesser extent) Bridges, and that's truly catastrophic.
This is why I am not as opposed to Wall as many on here, if he can be had for not much more than cap flexibility (say some combination fo Anderson, Ariza, other filler and non-premium draft stock, like MIL pick/a '20+ PHX pick lotto protected; would also consider Jackson). He is scary for the reasons we all know, but could also be an allstar here for years to come.
You have to start somewhere. It was the same kind of proposition with Blake Griffin last deadline. Many thought DET was crazy for trading for him on that contract and with that injury history, but he is delivering so far (25-10-5 on 50-40-75% sure don't grow on trees). Sure, they are not contenders, but that's because the rest of that roster is even worse than ours (Booker-Ayton-Warren-Bridges is miles better than Drummond-Jackson and stuff).

good. maybe they ll let milos go. cruel to just let him rot on the bench.
i hope clippers FO is listening.
id give up the mil pick for lin. and sign him to a modest long term deal next season.

Wall's contact is worse than Griffin's and he's not as good at basketball. I'd take wall if they sent us 2 unprotected 1sts plus a pick swap for Ariza/Anderson/bender

Am i the only one who thinks that aquiring anyone of value by trade is virtually impossible, with what we have to offer in return?

There’s a Dwight Howard story going around the internet. People should not jump to any conclusions, but if it’s true it’s going to cause a lot of shockwaves around the league.

Seriously, that’s all you’re going to say?

Alright, I got as far as typing “Dwight” into Google before seeing what you’re talking about.

Dwight Howard attended Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy in Atlanta so I'm sure he's a fine young man and an outstanding teammate.

As I understand it, there is an allegation that Dwight Howard likes to hook up with transgender women for sex. We might want to move some of the discussion to the Politics area if it gets too spicy.

Alright, but I feel it should only be moved so long as we're not discussing with how it relates to sports. Clearly there's an issue with the toxic masculinity in the locker room of professional sports teams. Gay representation in professional sports is much smaller than in the world as a whole. There has to be several closeted athletes just from a pure numbers perspective. I hesitate to say this will have any effect on that if it's true but it will be interesting to keep an eye on.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 9:35 amAs I understand it, there is an allegation that Dwight Howard likes to hook up with transgender women for sex. Dwight Howard is an interesting study from a psychological standpoint.

Sorry. I often forget that your measure of success is a championship, period. If you're not contending you're rebuilding.

If you aren't in the conversation as a top 4-5 team competing for a championship, but you have had the same nucleus maxed out for a few years, you are not moving in the right direction. They are paying over 50M/year for their starting back court, and it hasn't got them more than a single playoff win in the last 5 years. They were swept the last two years in the first round. They need to do something, or admit they are just biding their time until the Warriors break up and then try and grab someone that will help.
I hear you. Though, I'm sure I'd sell a kidney to get the Suns to Blazer-level basketball right now.
