Q2: Project our wins

Post by Indy »

Since there isn't an easy way to split up the season into equal quarters for Wins/Losses, let's look at the next 21 games.

If the Suns can't win half of these games, I'm going to be pretty ticked off. This is a patsy schedule compared to the first 20 games.

Are you sure they can win that many? Are you sure you want them to?

Winning 12 games is okay in these circumstances.

I have been trying to focus on small chunks of the season, because if I look big picture, we are on pace to win 16 games this year and we haven't been trying to tank. We won 21 last year while trying to tank after game 3. It hurts my heart to think about it.

All depends, as always.

Depends if we continue the incremental improvements.
Depends if we actually have some movement around December 15th.
Depends if any personal blend quickly with the team to show more progress.

So, I voted 4-7 with all of the 'depends' in the air.

Maybe I didn't word it well, but it is supposed to be total wins by the mid-point of the season, not just wins in Q2.

If it was clear, are you saying we will win between zero and 3 games over the next 21?

ooooooohhhhhhhhh

I thought it was wins in the quarter. I thought it was optimistic of you to not even include the 0-3 option.

I'm looking at that schedule and I don't see too many games where I think, "We should be really competitive in this one." A large part of that is because there's another East Coast road trip in there so those bad teams are on the road. Maybe Magic, Nets, Knicks? I think I can see us possibly getting to 8 wins.

Also, I correctly predicted the first quarter so you can call me Nostradumbass.

I don't really know how anybody can predict this team's future with any confidence. We have been all over the place. We're mostly bad, so predicting few wins seems like the wise thing to do. But at the same time, we have had a brutal schedule, and we were missing Booker for a chunk of it. And they do learn and grow with each game, win or loss. So I could kind of weirdly see them figuring some things out in the next quartile of the season. And they might make a move after Dec 15 when our shitty veterans become able to be traded. So who knows?

I am having a hard time seeing more than 6-7 games. Maybe 8 but they lost to the Magic.

Not looking good for the 80% of us that expected us to win at least 7 games this quarter...

After the Miami game tonight, every home game we have is against a team that is either in the top 8 of their conference, or above .500.

It's still nuts to me that basically all 14 of the other Western teams are around .500 or better and are plausible contenders to make the playoffs, except for us. We stick out for our futility and commitment to losing.
