It could be that people within the same organization (one or more of the teams) miscommunicated with each other.

The Suns don't even know how to trade right. This. Is. Amazing.
We all wondered why they hadn't made any deals yet.

Griff was saying on NBA TV that it wouldn’t be the first time a bait and switch was attempted.
It's not possible to bait & switch. The league does a "trade call" with each team and you list the assets you think you're getting and giving up individually then the NBA matches it up to make sure.

Chris Wallace is on record saying that no one talked to Phoenix about Dillon Brooks at any point, ever.

Someone is flat out lying here. Way more sources, including 2 of the teams in the trade, are saying Dillon brooks was discussed. We’ll probably never know for sure, but it feels like Memphis is lying.

Yeah, I have no problem with this deal falling apart.

I have no desire to see Austin Rivers run the point; I would whether continue to roll with Melton. Dillon Brooks had some solid moments last year, but ultimately I'm not interested. I would prefer to get Yuta Watanabe above either Brooks or Selden.

What the Phoenix Suns are doing is an exact representation of how my life is going right now. Wish I was joking  I just have to sit back and laugh.

That Shams quote was 15 min ago. This whole thing is dumb. So either Wallas is a massive fucking liar or Sarver spoke directly to the Grizz owner & the owner never spoke with his GM.

False hope, you know they are going to do something dumb.

Do we just leave Memphis out entirely? Rivers plus Oubre for Ariza seems like an easy solution. We must not be too high on oubre. To be honest I haven’t followed him enough to have an opinion. I’m not super fond of rivers though and think I’d look elsewhere for a trade.

I think we’ll probably end up with Rivers eventually. We’ll see if a different third team emerges.

Can't Sarver and Jones see Austin Rivers is the last guy these Suns should be targeting? What an absurd move this would have been. I am very glad this is dead.

Kelly Oubre: Decent shooter. Below average at pretty much everything else. Near the top of my list of worst rotation players in the league. Has talked openly about his own battles with mental health. That's probably a good thing for him, but I don't think it's a great mix with the current team culture.

Austin Rivers: $12.5M expiring this year. Not much of an upgrade over Melton and Okobo, but would stabilize the position a bit for the rest of the year.

I wonder if Oubre could be sent to Denver with Juan Hernangomez coming here.
