Ayton is a monster on offense
And the glass. If he gets to merely average on defense he is allNBA.

I don't mind the loss. But why is our supposedly young team so tired with nothing left in the tank on a back-to-back? Don't we start 3 rookies? Isn't our best player under 25? Shouldn't they all be able to run two games in a row if they need to? Oh well. At least Ayton had big numbers.
Because their last game went into 3OT.

LOL...Come on Marty, get your ass out there and play a triple OT and then we'll ask why you're dogging it the next day

I was kinda torn about last night's game after the 3OT game. From some of Igor's quotes, he's taking the "this is the schedule, they're pros, they gotta push thru and this is how we get tougher and better", which I like. I like the no nonsense mentality and pushing a younger team to battle through fatigue. Still, you get concerned about injuries due to fatigue and there's still a lot of season left. I would've been OK with Booker and TJ sitting but he kept them to 30minutes each.

Dinwiddie
24 pts, 7 assists in 26 minutes

Damn! We'd have been so much better off if they'd gone after him aggressively rather than pussyfooting the offer with nothing but second round picks...dammit!

Ayton’s season averages are up to 16.6ppg and 10.9rpg, but still has fewer blocks recorded (32) than games played (34). He is slowly improving on that end though.

I wouldn't have played Booker & TJ more than the first 6 and last 6 of each half meaning 24 minutes. I knew that was out the window when Igor sent Booker back in with 8 min remaining in the first half. People forget that the team has to travel, do shootaround, all this other stuff in 24 hours. Yes it's on a private plane but it's still tiring.
Go Suns!

For some reason I feel like Ayton is never around the basket on defense.

Btw I was hoping Melton would come out with fire in his belly after not playing in the 4th Q or any of the overtimes, but he laid an egg. That bums me out.

Yeah, his line disappointed me, too. Oh well; it's just one game.

The hunt for a PG continues.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

There has to be a way to search and see how often a team wins on the 2nd night of a back-to-back after playing in 3 OTs the night before. I am guessing that team is under 20%.

Fine, obviously playing a 3OT thriller the night before is a big handicap. But we have a bench full of guys who didn't play much or at all. Where was Dragan Bender? Where was Daniels? Why not 35-40 minutes in the second game for Melton? Why do a bunch of guys under 25 have so much trouble bouncing back?

Warren was really the one who struggled. Booker had a rough 3rd Q but he did keep it close in the 4th. It’s not like we got blown off the court, we lost by 8 to a team that’s won 9 out of 10 games.

I think Dragan would have helped more in the Washington game than the Brooklyn game. He would protect Ayton's backside on those pnrs to Bryant and he would help on weakside rebounding and boxing out.

I am guessing the sample size is pretty small.

ETA: 53 regular-season 3OT games in the past 35 years. http://bkref.com/tiny/0osf0 Figure some 20ish teams had another game the next day.

As for “There has to be a way,” that table is small enough that you can check it out manually if you really want to — just click through to each of the box scores and from there to the next game.

I figured if I said "there has to be a way" you would do the manual part. :)

OK, I’ll get this started. First, sort them by date: http://bkref.com/tiny/TsmQL

Just looking at the next games of the road teams,

PHX lost: https://www.basketball-reference.com/bo ... 20WAS.html
OKC lost: https://www.basketball-reference.com/bo ... 60NYK.html
NYC wasn’t b2b
DET wasn’t b2b
MIL wasn’t b2b
POR won: https://www.basketball-reference.com/bo ... 00NOP.html

I found the first win. Your turn. You keep going until the next win.

Merry Christmas.
