Josh has looked great for a while now. Settled down. Still don’t have much hope for his 3 but otherwise looking a lot better.

That is just this year, though, and a really small sample size for starter. If you look at his career, here are the splits:

Code: Select all

Value GMS MPG PPG RPG APG TO/G FG% 3P% FTA/G
Starter 25 32.56 15.12 6.12 5.40 1.52 0.404 0.398 2.28
Reserve 223 18.35 6.72 3.33 1.97 0.71 0.373 0.348 1.06

He plays almost twice as much and scores/rebounds twice as much. But he does increase his assists and shooting percentages quite a bit.

I am still not sold on how he would fair coming from one of the best teams in the east, and one of the best coaches in the game, to this mess.

For comparison, here are the splits for Beldsoe the year before he came here vs Rozier's from above. There was a lot of similar talk for him--really good defensive PG that is playing off the bench, but should be a starter.

Code: Select all

Value GMS MPG PPG RPG APG TO/G FG% 3P% FTA/G
Rozier 25 32.56 15.12 6.12 5.40 1.52 0.404 0.398 2.28
Bledsoe 40 33.20 17.90 4.78 5.55 3.43 0.479 0.364 5.48

Bledsoe is not a bad point guard. He is the starting point guard on the best team in the league right now.

He's not "driving" that team or a PG in the traditional sense because of Giannis' role and skillset. I wouldn't want him running my team where the ball's in his hands and he's responsible for leading us to wins. Seen that movie before.

He's a 1/2 and is in the perfect situation for him. Probably the best spot in the league for him (Philadelphia would probably be a good spot for him too).

Who was it that said there was a video of James Jones talking about how it would have helped to have had Tyson Chandler's contract at the trade deadline? I'd like to see that video.

“Those contracts probably could've helped us, potentially, but we still would've had the opportunity, the resources to execute a major trade. I don't regret not having that because I think at the end of the day, if we didn't use it and that wasn't a reality or something realistic, it's a moot point."

Yeah, it's only a moot point because you dumped a couple of contracts (Chandler & Arthur) that could have been used to complete trades, one of which you dumped because Chandler and the Lakers had mutual interest in each other. "Hey! Let's do him and the Lakers a favor! And screw ourselves at the same time!"

Who exactly do you think we could have used those contracts to trade for?

Eh, it has been about six games. He is playing better, but this is two years in a row where he has been abysmal for about 60% of the season. Playing well when guys are injured and the team is cemented in the cellar of the conference isn't good enough.

“We wanted to go into the trade deadline for the purpose of getting a player and not a project,” Jones said. “Not a prospect, but a player. So we got one and we’re happy that he’s with us and hopefully he can fill a void for us. The point guard position has been a position where we really haven’t had much success. We hope that he can come in and playing next to (Devin) Booker as a primary, secondary ball handler and can give us the capacity to compete a little bit better.”
What a joke.
