I think Zion would be wasted here without a PG to get him the ball. So no, I don't think he'd be a gamechanger by himself.

He would make a huge difference by himself, but not to a playoff team without more help.

Here's my checklist:
1. Vet above average PG.
2. Above average PF.
3. Win now vet backup at PF.
4. Win now vet backup at SG.
5. Possible game changer SF signing.

Use picks, cap space, expiring contracts, and rookie contracts to acquire them.

I would still draft Zion then trade every asset outside of Booker, Mikal, and Ayton for a PG. Fill out the roster as needed with whatever cap space is left. We'd be a little thin on the bench but who cares about that at this point.

It seems to me if you have Williamson, Ayton, Booker and cap room, it should be reasonably easy to get a serviceable PG. What PG wouldn’t like to have those guys to pass to?

Of course, this whole discussion is predicated on a 14% chance at the Big Z.

According to Gambo, Igor may get the axe if we lose again tonight. I'm not sure Igor is the right coach for the Suns, but the whole thing is just an embarrassment.

Wow! I thought they would just stick it out the rest of the year.

I don't understand the "if they lose tonight, the coach is getting fired". What if they win tonight and lose the next 3?

It'd be bad enough if we fired him after the season, but to do it like this would send a really bad message across the league. Especially because Igor has a lot of ties and is respected.

But I don't doubt James Jones would fire Igor now or even after the season.

Not Koko! Give him a chance. It hasn't even been a full season yet. Let's give him a full off-season to get his system in place with the right pieces to succeed.

Typical Suns. Finally hire someone that is intelligent, level headed with a great offensive pedigree as a coach. Through the ups and downs and all the turmoil, he never seems deterred. Don't give him the one ingredient he needs, a true PG all season, and then fire him before the season ends.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Firing Igor right now would be a colossal mistake. What kind of message does that send to future candidates?

I have been wondering what we would do with him if he fails to win even 15 games. That is all time bad. A sub .180 win percentage. It's not the lack of a PG that has us losing this many games. Watch how we play in the 4th Q and tell me it's totally a PG issue? Oubre rushing just the worst shots. Running out weird line-ups that don't make any sense. Not getting Ayton the ball where he can succeed. (Yes he's a jump shooting C right now but he's really good at it so when you don't score for 5 minutes maybe give him the ball 5 straight times and get some points on the board.)

Anyway, I have said this all year. These players don't connect with Coach K. I think there's a language issue but no one seems to want to be the one to say it. I'm an educated person that watches a lot of foreign Tv and I can barely understand him half the time. I can only imagine what it's like for some of the players. I also don't think he's strict enough. He's a quiet push over. They need a Scott Skiles type. I know that shit only works for a couple of seasons but they are in desperate need of some discipline right now.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if he stuck around the remainder of the season, even next season, or if he's fired tomorrow. Why? Because we have no plan in place. That much is readily apparent.

I’d be worried if we fired Igor. We apparently already had trouble getting someone to take the job last summer(bud and fizdale didn’t want the job) I really worry how we’d look if we fired Igor in under a year. I’m not saying he’s been great, but did we really give him the tools to succeed?

It’s not entirely different from the Cardinals situation this off-season, the cardinals hired a 4-3 coach and were surprised when the team with a 3-4 personnel failed. The suns hired an offensive coach and did not give him a pg. it’s not surprising we failed.

Firing Igor is a very Sarver era thing to do, so I'd put my money on it happening.

Gotta feel like we could go get Conley or Dragic fairly easily. Maybe even Lowry or Holiday. As for free agents, I think Rozier will be super available.

You've gotta at least let him finish the season.
