Why not?
I don’t see how he’s a step up from Igor...Igor has some issues, but I’m willing to give him the chance to figure it out. We haven’t set him up very well to succeed. If we decide to move on, it better be for an upgrade...I haven’t seen anything to lead me to believe Walton is an upgrade.

Walton seemed pretty great when he was coaching the Warriors. And he had the young Lakers off to a nice start before Lebron showed up. I don't think Walton is the kind of coach that Lebron likes to play for. If Walton gets fired, I would prefer him over Igor if we could make the switch in the offseason.

I'd stick with Igor over Walton at this point. If it were this time last year where we had Triano and Walton was available, it'd be different.

Report: Lakers expected to fire Luke Walton after season

I have mixed feelings about Igor, but I would bet on Sarver firing him and hiring Walton if it were possible.
Go Wildcats.

Ayton was -10 at one point in the 1st half and ended +23.

I don't really see the appeal of +/- as a stat. I don't know what it meaningfully measures.

How much more or less your team scored than the opposition while you were on the court.

It can be very misleading, especially in one game sample sizes. Makes more sense to evaluate lineups and combinations of players I think.

Dallas is the worst team in the league in their last 10 (2-8). Everyone else is 3-7 or better.

They are doing their best to keep the pick this year. Kinda makes sense, adding Porzingis, the pick and a free agent next year would be a nice boost. They traded away a lot of their picks...

We give Jackson a rough time, usually deserved, but imagine having Jackson on a max contract...that’s essentially what Wiggins is. They both have a .483 TS% this year.

It's a real tragedy how bad Wiggins has turned out. He had all the potential in the world. I think if he had landed in the right organization, like the Spurs or Rockets or someplace, he would have been a star. But he seems broken and damaged now, destined to be an inefficient player who will run out of the league when his athleticism wanes.

He was overrated coming out, but execs love raw 6-8 athletic SFs.

There are a lot of lessons if you look back at the last ten years or so of draft classes. The one I try to remind myself about is not to get seduced by athleticism. Guys who can run and leap over their opponents in college probably won't be able to do that in college. There are other lessons like, if a player can't shoot, it's rare that he'll figure it out in the pros; if a big man doesn't rebound or defend in college, he probably won't do that in the pros either; and so on. I also think that specialists are underrated in college / the draft. If a player is an awesome shooter, or a phenomenal rebounder, but is bad at other aspects of the game, people tend to pick the player apart. But to make it in the NBA you really need to have at least one elite skill. Being decent at several things won't make you an NBA star.

I agree with everything here, with the exception that if the player can't shoot in college. If he's drafted by the Spurs, he is usually taught how to shoot and magically becomes a decent shooter.

People figure out shooting sometimes...although it can take 7/8 years as well. It’s one of those areas where it’s almost impossible to predict if they’ll figure out how to shoot.
