Game Day: Suns (17-57) @ Jazz (43-30), Mon 3/25/19

Post by Superbone »

Time: 6:00 pm AZ (6:00 pm PT/9:00 pm ET)
Place: Vivint Smart Home Arena, Salt Lake City, UT
TV: FSAZ, NBALP

It's Jimmer time! (I said that last time but it didn't work out too well for him.) Jazz are fighting for playoff positioning while the Suns are injured and playing for the lottery.

Go Suns!!!

Want to see how Ayton responds to Gobert after that last outing.

Presumably he'll just pass it out to Jimmer, who will happily hoist a 27-footer.

This is one of those conflicts between front office and coaching I assume. Coach hates him, front office is going to have to force him to play him if they want to get a good look at him.

Devin Booker is a special player. I don't get this line of thinking that he's a prima donna and that we'd be better off without him. Look at him out there carrying this team on his back, with 27 points and counting in just the first half.

But carrying them where? They're losing by 19.

They're not going to win if he's taking half their shots.

They have to get more players involved. When he concentrates on going one-on-one he'll score a lot of points, but the offense is stagnant.

When I look at a player ballhogging and hurting his team, I look at things like:

- did the guy jack up too many shots at a low percentage
- did he pass it at all, did he get any assists
- did he seem to wave off or ignore open teammates

Booker has shot 8-16 in the first half and has 3 assists. I haven't carefully watched every play since I'm doing my course grades tonight, but I don't think he is totally ballhogging and hurting us. I would also argue that other than Ayton we just don't have a lot of guys out there who can score.

Coach is trying to WIN. Not perform experiments with players.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Agreed. And the front office signed Fredette as an experiment to end the season. Thus the two competing interests.

55 points. 4th highest scoring total in franchise history.

Only his second 50-point game in his career.

Jimmer 1-10, for 2 points, in 14 minutes. What an absurd chucking rate of shooting with such awful results.

Booker scores 59 (!) on 19-34 shooting, 5-8 on threes, 16-17 on FTs. Special player.
