Place: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
TV: FSAZ/NBALP

This is it. Another record breaking season in the books. And not in a good way. Lots of bad with a couple runs of good. We played our best basketball when Tyler Johnson and Oubre Jr. were contributing. Ayton shows a lot of promise. Booker showed he can be dominant. If we can bring some of that into next season, we'll have a much better season of basketball. This is most likely Dirk's last NBA game and it's in front of his fans so we'll have to deal with that throughout the game.

Go Suns!!!

I'm tired of being more excited for a season to end than a new one to start.

When is the draft lottery? (Suns' NBA Finals for years now)

Ya we lost a lot of games but, IMO the big picture has definitely improved over last year even if the win loss category doesn’t really show it. Booker is a stud. Ayton is a stud. Bridges was solid all year. Jackson calmed down and matured some. He has a ways to go but is definitely talented. Bender went from total dog house to being a solid contributor at the end. Warren missed a good chunk of the year due to injury again but was on fire before that and his only offensive weakness, 3pt shooting made a huge improvement. I don’t know if we are going to be able to keep Oubre but, he is 100% hustle and energy and is a Swiss army knife on offense and defense. I am not sure what Holmes status is but thought he was great.

I am not sure what the future of Johnson, Okobo, Fredette are. We need a stud PG and I am not sure what happens here. We also need a stud PF. We have a glut of SF’s and I suspect will lose at least one to help secure a PG or SF but, we will see.

I see a lot of promise. We made a couple of moves with Oubre and Johnson and put together a streak of great games against some quality teams that showed me we aren’t that far off. Unfortunately the injury bug really cut that short and we ended up with a rag tag group of players left at the end, which can be considered a good thing since we weren’t going to the playoffs anyway and it gave some players like Bender and Okobo some playing time to show they deserve a shot. We should get another great draft pick this off season and with a little luck hopefully will secure a real PG and maybe a real PF as well in the draft or by trade. We will see. Overall I am optimistic about their future.

Special game today - Dirk passing the torch to Dirk 2.0 (Bender). The NBA must have scheduled it like that on purpose.

Is that like when M$ passed the torch from WinXP to Vista?

The fact he was never chewing gum incessantly in those GOT clips is a travesty.

I’m pretty sure his game chewing days started after this GoZ. Plus, it would have changed his perfect deer in headlights look seen here.

I seem to remember it always being a thing when he was on the court, but not as much on the sideline... and he hasn't seen a lot of court time the last 2 years.

I know he probably doesn't want to, but I'd love to see Dirk try to play all 48 minutes tonight. Just let him try to hit the one-footed fadeaway on every possession.

That would be spectacular.

I remember Dirk's first year in the league. I was sitting in the lower bowl of a Suns game with tickets I got from someone else that I clearly couldn't afford. Dallas was really bad that year, and I was excited to go to the game to see Nash and Finley and the other former Suns play. I didn't know too much about Dirk except he was a good prospect, 7 foot tall, and could shoot.

We won, but Dirk lit us up that night. I thought he dropped 30, but I just looked it up and he went for 29. But he did it on 16 shots. And Dallas only scored 85 points total.

Anyway, the game was pretty close the whole night, and you just kept hearing Jeff Munn (I think he was still there at the time) saying Dirk's name over and over and over every time he would score or go to the line. My brother and I just kept shaking our head at how good he looked in his first year here and only 20 years old.

Two other 'fans' sitting near us didn't have the same admiration. They fit the bill of the John Lennon quote about the people in the rich seats to "just rattle your jewelry." After the first few made shots when it was clear he was doing something special, their retort was to make fun of his name. These two ladies just kept saying "dirk" in the most annoying and loud way possible thinking it was an insult to him to not be able to say his name right. Every damn shot in the 2nd half, right after the PA announcer said it, these two would, in unison, scream "Duuuuuuurrrrrkkkkk" in, like, a valley girl, like, kinda way. Every time. Ugh.

I am cursed to hear them every time I say his name, or hear others say it.

That is the only reason I am glad he is retiring. He was an amazing player.

Dirk had that same quality that Steph Curry has now, that fear when you see him pull up for a shot and you just think it will go in every single time. What a superb shooter he was. During his prime in the late aughts he was just an assassin in the playoffs.

He was 2nd on the team in minutes played last year.

Dude can legitimately barely run down the court right now. You must be nuts. Lol.

That was just because he played in every game and nobody else did. But you have to admit he was invisible out there. ;)

He looked to be struggling walking into the arena tonight.
