“After extensive evaluation, I determined it is best to move in a different direction with our head coaching position,” said Suns general manger James Jones in a news release about Kokoskov, who resides in Phoenix. “I want to thank Igor for his work this past season and wish him the best with his future endeavors.”

Surprised but not shocked.. As much as I wanted stability.. I would have been the first to call for his sacking had we gone on a losing streak next year... Better now than next season.

As for Kokoskov, the Republic talked with league sources who felt Kokoskov hadn't connected with the young players on the Suns. Looking at its end-of-season roster, Phoenix has 10 players age 23 or under with Kelly Oubre Jr. being the only one age 23.

Devin Booker, the team's franchise player is 22, while Deandre Ayton, who just finished his rookie season as the No. 1 overall pick, is 20.

If they hire Monty Williams to be our coach, so help me ... What a complete s--t show this team has been for the past decade.

There may come a day, Mori, where you have to become our Jim Jones and we just collectively Jonestown our Suns fandom. At least until Sarver sells. It would be so cathartic.

On the bright side, if they hire Ty Lue he can start at PG as well.

Disappointed, but not surprised. I remember Booker yelling at him for some choices/time out he made. So...

I know Gentry is a fan favorite, but If you look at the numbers, he is a .465 coach, .442 with NO.
In 16 years, he got only 3 times in the playoffs.

Williams is a .439 coach. Got 2 times in the playoffs in 5 years.

No surprise. Terrible W-L record plus new GM and top executive. Not good in his first year but clearly not the biggest culprit of the mess since the roster was such a clusterfvck.

It was probably worth it to give him a second year under a better built team. That should have been the focus of the new management unless a can't miss opportunity came up for the coaching job, which is not the case obviously.

At 22, Booker will see his fifth coach since entering the league. Just a matter of time before he checks out. Hopefully the league somehow forces Sarver out before what remains of this franchise's prestige is gone.

Honestly had a feeling this was coming. Jones and now Bower are entitled to bring in someone they want if they're running the team but we just look like more of a shitshow (if that was even possible). Even with a better record, I doubt Igor would've lasted. I don't think Jones liked or agreed with his basketball style/philosophy. So we'll go with more of an American/NBA style coach, former player/teammate/coach of Monty/Bower and start over next year. Maybe we'll have Zion or Ja and maybe we'll be better either way. If we're winning, none of this will matter. Jones and Bower just better get it right.

Also, if Monty is our top target he's getting a 2nd interview with the Lakers. So if the Lakers want him, they know they need to make an offer soon and maybe he squeezes more money out of them. Maybe he leverages them against us. Maybe he's more interested in a low key job with people in the FO he knows and trusts more than dealing with the LeBron and the Lakers' spotlight. Who knows...I just hope we don't end up with Juwan Howard or some shit.

I do think that Koko misused Ayton tremendously. I don't think he deserved this but hey, life ain't fair.

I don't think I have ever said this before, but Chuck is right. This is a dumpster fire. Our FO is a joke, in line with the Kings.

BUT... for anyone just looking at Sarver, don't think Booker wasn't asked about the firings of Watson, Triano, or Igor before they happened.

Five in five years is impressive but they're going to need to try harder to set a record -

1949-54 TRI/MIL (8) - Potter, Auerbach, McMillan, Logan, Todorovich, Moore, Levane, Holzman
1996-02 WAS (7) - Lynam, Staack, Bickerstaff, Brovelli, Heard, Walker, Hamilton
1994-99 DEN (6) - Issel, Littles, Bickerstaff, Motta, Hanzlik, D'Antoni
1968-73 DET (6) - Butcher, Seymour, van Breda Kolff, Dischinger, Lloyd, Scott
1975-81 DET (6) - Scott, Brown, Kauffman, Vitale, Adubato, Robertson
2004-09 MEM (6) - Brown, Hollins, Fratello, Barone, Iavaroni, Davis
2009-14 NJN (6) - Frank, Barrise, VanDeWeghe, Johnson, Calesimo, Kidd
1956-61 STL (6) - Holzman, Martin, Hannum, Phillip, Macauley, Seymour
1975-80 BUF/SDC (6) - Ramsay, Locke, MacKinnon, Mullaney, Fitzsimmons, Shue
1991-96 SAS (6) - Brown, Bass, Tarkanian, Hughes, Lucas, Hill

From 1949 to 1965 Ben Kerner of the Hawks (derisively known as "Benny the Boob") had 16 different coaches in 16 years. But it did include four trips to the Finals and a championship in 1958.

Igor hasn't really done anything to show he can be a successful coach in the NBA, but then again, nobody was going to be successful with last year's club.

Losing more games than the team lost in 2017-18 and having a new front office (other than the Chief Executive Idiot) didn't help his cause any either.

Just don't get attached to whoever they hire folks!

He probably expected that the team would easily win more than 29 games.

Nah. Nobody could have expected that.

I'm assuming you meant to type "19" because 29 would have led to a parade down Central Avenue.
