In McD's defense, he never had Ayton, only Booker. And one star isn't enough to build around. You need at least 2. So I get why he kept swinging for the fences with the draft. I still think his draft record looks worse because we never invested in developing those players.
Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
He did have Bledsoe, Goran and IT, but squandered those too.

Let's see if Ayton can put his big boy pants on and actually impact a game this year instead of throwing up meaningless stats when it doesn't matter. Let's see if Booker can be more than a ball chucking turnover machine. The pressure is getting turned up this year with the additions that were made.

Remember when he said the core of the team was there during the 2013-2013 season? That was fun.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 7:17 pmNone of those guys were stars. His biggest fault was thinking that they could even be. If he had his eyes more open we would've had our third guy in Fox.

He is becoming one; but it has taken some time.
Trendon Watford. Please and thank you.

Literally all of our games didn't matter this past season. Any stats any of our players earned were meaningless stats.iLLmatic wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 8:13 pmLet's see if Ayton can put his big boy pants on and actually impact a game this year instead of throwing up meaningless stats when it doesn't matter. We've been 25th (or worse) in team payroll every year since 2012.

I get the "empty stats" thing but you do have to consider last season's roster and record. I'm hopeful Monty will force feed him the ball to keep him engaged and impactful down low. There were parts of games where he was dominant in the post and no one could check him. But if you're going to claim "empty stats", then Booker's numbers don't mean anything either.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 10:10 pmLiterally all of our games didn't matter this past season. I don’t like the term “empty stats.” Ayton’s stats weren’t empty. The rebounds he got helped the team, his high efficiency scoring helped the team. If you want to say he didn’t impose his will on the game, then that is accurate, but I don’t see the empty stats narrative.

You want empty stats? This team gave almost 2,000 minutes to Josh Jackson last year. That's in addition to not having an NBA-caliber PF or PG.
That's how you average 60 losses over the last four years - too many minutes to shitty players (Jackson, Bender, Chriss, Knight, Ulis, etc.) because they couldn't find decent players to fill those roles.

Yeah, I don't like "empty stats" term given to players that are doing their best at a good efficiency. It's a derogatory term used for players that you want to sh!+ on.Split T wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 6:17 amI don’t like the term “empty stats.” Ayton’s stats weren’t empty. Kinda what I'm afraid of. If the Clips don't throw an offer at Oubre (if they strike out on Kawhi) , we have some leverage but it could get ugly if we lowball like "hey, there's no more money out there. Take our offer or play out the year".
