That's just lazy. Collison already said he would take less to go to a contender than play for the Suns.

Rubio isn't a good shooter. I think you can cross him off the list.

Joseph? Meh to yuck.

Beverly is nice as a tough guy and culture setter, but is he still a starter anymore? I'd love him as a backup if they got a guy like DLo though.

This thread should be one giant sad face emoji.

I know this isn't a free agent, but what about a couple trades of Josh Jackson.

Perhaps Jackson to Sac for Bogdanovich?

Or Jackson to Detroit for cap space?

Jackson to Detroit for Glenn Robinson III(team option or expiring contract)?

Jackson to Detroit for Reggie Jackson(expiring contract)?

Is it sad that I’m at the point that I hope we sign Rubio? I’ve been pretty against bringing him in, but if it keeps us from Joseph, I’m all in.

The logic doesn't make sense. If we aren't pursuing Rubio because of his lack of shooting why would we go after Joseph?

Joseph 41/32/70
Rubio 40/31/85!

Plus you get better defense and better ball movement with Rubio. I'm not advocating either but rather I'm pointing out the lack of logic at play.

Yeah at least Rubio is a starting NBA point guard. And having one of those on our roster would seem like a miracle at this point.

My money is on Rubio at this point.

Where's that female Twitter reporter that said something huge is gonna happen? Lol

This team is miserable.

No it’s fine. We need to scaffold up every year. They need to build a competitive culture and add every year to the roster. Small market teams spend too much time losing holding out on building their rosters always swinging for a championship star but never really getting them and just standing pat until the perfect situation presents itself. Go for Dlo or Brogdon but settle for Rubio.

5th largest city in the country and we're somehow small market.

Mid level market in terms of endorsements?

We are 11th among metro areas: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of ... ical_areas

But still, I don’t know why everyone calls it “small market.”

We don't spend like one. I'm not sure what the local tv contract is for the Suns but it must not be that great.

It doesn't help that huge portions of The Valley are transplants or front-running LA/GSW/(insert winning team) fans.

Metro Phoenix is a spoke, not a wheel. And it doesn't have the hinterland that a city like Boston (smaller "metro" area) does:

Rank Combined Statistical Area 2018 Estimate
1 New York-Newark, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area 22679948
2 Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA Combined Statistical Area 18764814
3 Chicago-Naperville-Elgin, IL-IN-WI Combined Statistical Area 9866910
4 Washington-Baltimore-Arlington, DC-MD-VA-WV-PA Combined Statistical Area 9778360
5 San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA Combined Statistical Area 9666055
6 Boston-Worcester-Providence, MA-RI-NH-CT Combined Statistical Area 8285407
7 Dallas-Fort Worth, TX-OK Combined Statistical Area 7957493
8 Philadelphia-Reading-Camden, PA-NJ-DE-MD Combined Statistical Area 7204035
9 Houston-The Woodlands, TX Combined Statistical Area 7197883
10 Miami-Port St. Lucie-Fort Lauderdale, FL Combined Statistical Area 6913262
11 Atlanta–Athens-Clarke County–Sandy Springs, GA-AL Combined Statistical Area 6775511
12 Detroit-Warren-Ann Arbor, MI Combined Statistical Area 5353002
13 Phoenix-Mesa, AZ Combined Statistical Area 4911851

Another issue is that Phoenix is more of a spoke than a hub, and lacks the corporate power of New York through Atlanta.

Cities with 5 or more FORTUNE 500 headquarters.
City State Number of Fortune 500 companies
New York NY 42
Houston TX 24
Dallas TX 12
Atlanta GA 10
Minneapolis MN 10
Chicago IL 9
St. Louis MO 8
San Francisco CA 7
Charlotte NC 6
Cincinnati OH 6
Columbus OH 6
Milwaukee WI 6
Englewood CO 5
Irving TX 5
Los Angeles CA 5
Omaha NE 5
Philadelphia PA 5
Pittsburgh PA 5
Richmond VA 5

Arizona total has five.

Gambo's been reporting names like McGruder, Aminu, Kaminsky, ThadYoung, Joseph, Mike Scott. Nothing too exciting but solid, playable guys. I've always liked Ish Smith and would probably like him more than Joseph. But these are stopgap players just to hopefully make us respectable. More than anything, we gotta get someone who wants to play here.
