Williams said the team has been working on Ayton’s shot, particularly from 3, as the plan going into the season was for him to shoot them in games. Ayton didn’t attempt one in the opener, but he worked on his 3-point shot in the offseason and has attempted them in practices and the pick-up games.

What we lose with Ayton not being as deadly from 3 as Baynes, we'll gain in Ayton being a much more ferocious roll man, fastbreak pass recipient, and alleyoop target. I think they'll figure it out. Rubio and Ayton will connect on a lot of two-man plays this season I think.

If he is rolling from the 3 point line the defenders can just float back into the lane. We know Rubio can't hit 3s either. If both guys running the pick and roll are bad at hitting 3s, the PnR is a lot easier to defend.
