Game Day: Spurs (18-23) @ Suns (18-24), Mon 1/20/20

Post by Superbone »

Time: 7:00 pm AZ (6:00 pm PT/9:00 pm ET)
Place: Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, AZ
TV: FSAZ, NBALP

The Spurs come to town after beating the Heat the night before in SA. If we beat them, we give them our current record while improving ours to 19 wins. Oubre is probable while Cam is questionable and Baynes is doubtful.

Go Suns!!!

I feel like we should give Baynes 5 games off or so. If he's only playing 15 minutes a night, Diallo should be able to fill in fine.

I agree. He's not right.

Indeed. Any chance they bring Owens up to fill the end of the bench?

DA with two great games since being put back into the starting lineup. If twice is coincidence and thrice is pattern, this is his “pattern” game.

Yeah, my confidence in what he (and the team) is capable of goes up if he has a similar game tonight. Even if he doesnt have the same kind of game tonight, the last 2 games have provided a much needed shot of optimism.

This is a good test for us. If we want to challenge for a playoff spot, we have to win games like this against other near-playoff teams. And even though the Spurs are pretty mediocre this year, that's a top-flight organization and they'll come to play hard.

I think we can beat the Spurs. We struggle more against teams with crazy athleticism.

I actually like DA vs the Spurs bigs. They will do a good job of limiting Booker, so I hope to see good games from DA and the crew.

Spurs are a smart team and can exploit our low BBIQ and poor decision making at times. This will be a real measuring stick as to how much this team has really improved.

I agree with wanting Baynes sit out a couple games to get right. Going to need a better version of Baynes if this team is going to make a playoff push.

Hoping Kelly comes off the bench also. Really need to see another look at this lineup before we know what kind of roster moves are needed.

The last Spurs game was probably the most frustrating one of the season for me.

Losing to the injury-depleted Hawks was also pretty bad.

Baynes has been ruled out. Oubre's looks to be playing but no word on who's starting.

The Kings game was my most frustrating. They had played the night before and were missing key players and we had a big lead in the 3rd.

Before we started with trades and lineup changes, let's keep some perspective. And we don't have Cam or Frank off the bench.

More about how that one ended. We were up 2 with 8 seconds left in OT and inbounding the ball. A completely inexcusable TO on the inbound gave the Spurs back the ball. Then we gave up a dumb and 1 for the tie. Spurs missed the free throw, but we couldn't secure the rebound (also inexcusable on a free throw) and then Mills hit a buzzer beater. Just a brutal 8 seconds.

Not the loss but the rehash most definitely is! I had tried to get that out of my mind but then you had to lay it out painful moment by painful moment. Not cool.
