Derrick Jones Jr was good, and we were dumb to just discard him like we did. We had a glut of too many mediocre SFs/swings and so we didn't give him a chance. Always liked the kid.

His shooting needs some improvement, especially from the 3-point arc (23%) and free throw line (61%)

Yeah, that 3-point percentage is rough. I could have promised it was higher earlier in the season.

He's got amazing athleticism.

Looks like he’d fit right back in with our suns

I've got high hopes for JL. You can see i his eyes that he is engaged in the game and looking for the right play on both ends. Lot's of growing left to do, but we knew that when he was drafted. I can see the improvement in his form on the shot and in his awareness of when to pass. I he keeps working, he can be a good NBA player.

Kinda concerned there aren't many fundamentals offensively. He's getting a lot off against really bad defense and pulling off some pickup moves/points he won't see in the league with actual defense being played.

He seems like a good kid, and I'm rooting for him. But I just don't see the point of players who are more athletes than they are basketball players. If you're going to be an NBA guard, you need to be really good at one or more of: shooting, passing, defense. Is Lecque above-average, or even average, at any of these? I just don't consider "athleticism" or "dunking" or "can drive past chair-level defenders" to be anywhere near the same category in terms of importance. Paul MacPherson didn't make it, either, and he was an explosive athlete and dunker.

He was in high school last year, I think it’s fine that he’s not a highly skilled shooter, ball handler, or defender yet.

For example, LeBron's shooting sucked in HS.

The problem that I see with Lecque is that there will be a number of PGs in the draft this year, that the Suns could have available when they pick that are immediately better than Lecque or at least have a higher floor next season. Like for instance, what does Lecque do that's better than what Cole Anthony or many other prospects could provide immediately?

I'm not sure he projects as a PG even. Could be a combo/scoring guard next to Book. I don't have any problem developing him as it was a low risk/high reward project and he seems like a good kid with exceptional physical tools. Not unlike the flyer we took on Archie, except Jalen seems to have a better head on his shoulders and more versatility to his game.

It's frustrating that we're trying to develop 5 mediocre PG prospects at the same time, and the one we needlessly traded away would have solved our problems at the position. We could have even played Ty and Melton together.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare him to a potential 1st overall pick. Lecque doesn’t need to be our pg of the future. Just develop him and see what he is. He was an undrafted FA, anything we get from him is a bonus.

You two can save yourselves some frustration by just not reading the last 5 names on the roster.

It wouldn't be the 2010s/2020 Phoenix Suns if we didn't have five mediocre backup PGs on the bench, none of whom can be trusted to actually be in the rotation.

How about LaMelo Ball, RJ Hampton, Theo Maledon, Killian Hayes, & Tyrese Haliburton?

Or just trade for someone more ready. I just saw Blazers vs Pacers and really think Aaron Holiday is gonna be a player. Why not use our good trade chips to get someone closer to being ready rather than the Draft. Clearly we don’t draft well.
