Kobe dead. RIP. Memories thread.

Post by England Sun »

As much as I hated it when we played them it is such a loss at such a young age. I’m only 43 myself.

I thought a thread dedicated to the memories we have of playing against him would be an honourable thing to do.

I'm just devastated by this news. I hated Kobe's guts as a player, but he was only 41. That's way too young to be gone. And he had his wife Vanessa and four daughters. If I'm reading the info correctly, his daughters are 17, 14, 3, and 1. Those poor girls. They'll have to grow up without their daddy. I think of my little daughter Eve, almost 2 years old, and how it would change her for her mommy or daddy to be gone. I'm fighting back tears. It's so tragic.

I swear every time he had a chance to win it against us at the last second he did. Great player.

Sorry for posting the vid. Damn that play still gets to me.

Now I'm reading that his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Maria Onore ("Gigi"), was also onboard the helicopter that crashed and also died. :-(

Here's the last few minutes of his final game, where he scored 60 to pull the Lakers to a come-from-behind victory over the Jazz.

Terrible news. As much as I disliked him as a Laker, I had to respect him as a player and a competitor. He was an incredible player and an icon for a generation.

I've written and deleted about 10 different things here.

It's just sad.

Kids at the Kobe youth basketball tournament cancel their games after hearing the news today.

So sad. Some of my best Suns memories are us beating the Kobe Lakers. Even more sad about the kids who died in the crash.

I'm saddened. I hated Kobe against us but he went way too young. I'm sad for his daughters and his wife. RIP Mamba.

Just unreal. Felt like one of those instances where time stops and you always remember where you were when you heard the news. Incredibly sad about his daughter and the other parent and child involved in the crash.

The clips circulating on Twitter of him with his daughter Gigi are really heartbreaking.

Honestly, this really his me harder than I would have thought this kind of news would. I think what gets me the most is that he seemed like a really good dad, and how his daughter was with him.
