Haha, well maybe they just used tankathon to create the order and the picks before the suns...I did notice Vecenie has Achiuwa in the lottery on his big board. He did say in this article though that he liked a few other players ahead of Achiuwa for the suns.

Yeah, I don't think Avdija is a candidate for phx, but who knows how many SFs Jones may want.

In the highlights, Avdija looks like a #1 pick candidate, though. He shoots, drives , throws nifty passes, scores in the paint, rebounds, rotates for blocks, and looks really quick and natural doing all of it. The ft% is shocking. The other concern is 20mpg. What's he doing outside of the highlights that keeps him on the bench? It'll be interesting to see if he really is a player.
Very common for 19 year olds in Europe not to see big minutes.

Bender played like 3mpg for the same team.

Because Bender sucked ass. That’s a terrible endorsement

He’s totally redundant on this roster. In fact, he reminds me a lot of Mikal, but I really like this kid:

We could just commit to surrounding Booker/Ayton with 3D wings. I don’t like Booker at the 1 full time, but if we add a wing like Vassell, we could let Booker be the backup pg and let Bridges/Oubre/Johnson/Vassell split all the minutes at the 3 and 4, plus take the backup 2 guard minutes.

So I haven’t spent a lot of time on this years draft class, but now is as good a time as any to dive in. I started just looking at the stats and here are the per-40 numbers for the guards: Stats go points/rebounds/assists/steals/blocks then Fg/3pt/FT and TS%

Tyrese Haliburton 16.6 - 6.4 - 7.0 - 2.7 - .7 and shooting 50/42/82 for a .631 TS
Anthony Edwards. 23.1 - 6.3 - 3.4 - 1.6 - .7 and shooting 40/29/77 for a .520 TS
Cole Anthony...... 21.2 - 6.5 - 4.6 - 1.5 - .3 and shooting 40/35/75 for a .501 TS
Nico Mannion......17.3 - 3.1 - 6.6 - 1.5 - .0 and shooting 39/33/80 for a .520 TS
Tyrese Maxey...... 16.2 - 5.0 - 3.7 - 1.0 - .4 and shooting 43/29/83 for a .531 TS
Jahmi’us Ramsey. 19.3 - 5.1 - 2.9 - 1.7 - .9 and shooting 44/43/64 for a .546 TS
Kira Lewis Jr....... 19.6 - 5.1 - 5.6 - 1.9 - .6 and shooting 46/37/80 for a .560 TS
Grant Riller........ 26.1 - 6.1 - 4.7 - 1.9 - .4 and shooting 50/36/83 for a .609 TS
Markus Howard.... 33.5 - 4.2 - 3.9 - 1.1 - .0 and shooting 42/41/85 for a .593 TS
Tyrell Terry......... 18.0 - 5.5 - 3.9 - 1.7 - .1 and shooting 44/41/89 for a .589 TS
LaMelo Ball......... 21.8 - 9.7 - 8.8 - 2.0 - .1 and shooting 38/25/72
Killian Hayes....... 19.1 - 3.4 - 9.2 - 2.2 - .3 and shooting 46/39/91
Theo Maledon...... 16.7 - 4.5 - 6.1 - 1.1 - .2 and shooting 43/33/73
RJ Hampton........ 17.1 - 7.6 - 4.7 - 2.1 - .7 and shooting 41/30/68

Most of the top freshman stats are pretty underwhelming. At least from an efficiency standpoint. I never heard of Ramsey, Lewis, Riller, or Terry but their numbers are pretty strong. Haliburton looks like the best player statistically. Internationally, LaMelo stuffs the box score, but his shooting numbers are cringe worthy. Killian Hayes and Theo Maledon, especially Hayes, have really solid numbers. I have no clue their level of competition though.

I’ll work on the wings and bigs and post them later on.

Here’s the wings:

Issac Okoro...... 16.3 - 5.6 - 2.6 - 1.2 - 1.1 and shooting 51/29/67 for a .585 TS
Aaron Nesmith.. 25.8 - 5.5 - 1.0 - 1.6 - 1.0 and shooting 51/52/83 for a .685 TS
Devin Vassell..... 17.6 - 7.0 - 2.3 - 1.9 - 1.3 and shooting 49/42/74 for a .585 TS
Patrick Williams. 16.4 - 7.1 - 1.8 - 1.8 - 1.8 and shooting 46/32/84 for a .553 TS
Saddiq Bey........ 19.0 - 5.6 - 2.8 - 0.9 - 0.5 and shooting 48/45/77 for a .608 TS
Josh Green........ 15.5 - 5.9 - 3.4 - 2.0 - 0.6 and shooting 42/36/78 for a .528 TS
Tyler Bey.......... 19.1 - 12.5 - 2.0 - 2.1 - 1.6 and shooting 53/42/74 for a .611 TS
Deni Avdija....... 11.3 - 7.3 - 3.2 - 1.1 - 0.7 and shooting 44/28/56
Leandro Bolmaro 18.1 - 3.8 - 5.8 - 2.9 - 0.3 and shooting 42/28/68

Some shooters here with Nesmith, Vassell, and both Beys. Some big time stat sheet stuffers too. Vassell, Both Beys, Williams.
From the stats, I’m not sure why Okoro is the top wing. Avdija also doesn’t look good on paper. Vassell and the Beys are my top guys based on stats. Feels like this could be where the value is in this draft.

And the bigs:

James Wiseman... 34.2 - 18.6 - 0.6 - 0.6 - 5.2 and shooting 77/00/70 for a .760 TS ***only 3 games***
Onyeka Okungwu.. 21.2 - 11.3 - 1.4 - 1.6 - 3.5 and shooting 62/25/72 for a .645 TS
Obi Toppin.......... 25.3 - 9.5 - 2.7 - 1.2 - 1.5 and shooting 63/39/70 for a .684 TS
Precious Achiuwa. 20.7 - 14.2 - 1.3 - 1.4 - 2.5 and shooting 49/33/60 for a .534 TS
Jaden McDaniels... 16.7 - 7.5 - 2.7 - 1.0 - 1.8 and shooting 41/34/76 for a .515 TS
Isaiah Stewart..... 21.1 - 10.9 - 1.0 - 0.7 - 2.6 and shooting 57/25/77 for a .629 TS
Paul Reed.......... 19.1 - 13.5 - 2.0 - 2.4 - 3.2 and shooting 52/31/74 for a .561 TS

I’m kinda out on bigs this year. We’ve got Ayton. If we’re drafting one high, needs to be able to play with DA. I like Toppin at the top. I don’t know anything about Paul Reed, but those stats are eye popping. Worth a look for sure.

Except most of that stuff is him playing in essentially the minor leagues of European basketball. I'm not saying he can't be good, but he just hasn't done much to warrant spending a high pick on him.

Precious Achiuwa is not a lottery pick, IMO.
Why?

He doesn't bring anything on offense, and I don't think he will add that to his game.

Why do you say he brings nothing on offense? He can hit the college 3 ball and has a strong motor that helps him on the offensive end find scoring opportunities. He attacks the hoop, hits the offensive glass, has good quickness, and solid athleticism.

You don't average 16 ppg as a freshman and not bring anything on offense.

He doesn't shoot well. He's hit 13 3s total, and he's not a reliable ft shooter. He doesn't pass. I don't think he's finding scoring opportunities, I think they are finding him. He scores on putbacks and he does get to the line. I think he's a hustle guy without high court awareness or special skills.

I don't want to come off as an ass, but how does anyone average 0.2 of anything over 3 games...

Those are stats per 40 minutes, not per game.

A few people I respect have Killian Hayes #1 on their boards, so I watched a bit of video on him yesterday. Seems promising. Probably 1 in a million that JJ takes someone like that.

Ya I can’t see JJ taking him...he’s probably just watched the same YouTube videos as all of us. I have Hayes and Haliburton as my top 2. Haliburton does feel like a JJ pick though.

What are people’s thoughts on Lamelo Ball? I haven’t really watched him...his stats scare me a bit. Why were his shooting numbers so bad? He’s got size and skill as a ball handler/passer but is he going to be able to shoot?
