I didn’t watch the game, but sounds like DA was impressive again when Kelly isn’t in the lineup. Didn’t that happen last time when Kelly was in concussion protocol? Not ripping on Oubre at all... but if he does miss extended time, it might be the best injury since Tom Gugliotta in regards to helping another player grow faster...

Ayton did play well last night, but think that’s more of an overall trend in his play, not a comment on how he plays without Oubre. He’s had better games than this one with Oubre on the court.

Ayton being a plus defender is huge for this team’s long term trajectory. The fact that he can competently cover the perimeter and be a deterrent at the rim is going to be a game-changer as the rest of the league trends smaller.

You’re right... he has been trending up for sure. Just think that maybe this will help him be more focused and consistent. In reality this is me just trying to take a silver lining approach.

It’ll give Ayton more offensive touches for sure. Loved seeing him attack off the dribble a few times. Was even one play where it looked like he got mad and decided he was gonna go at I think Montrezl.

They still have difficulty getting passes to Ayton, especially Booker. Down at his ankles or sailing over his head. They are getting better and Ayton is getting more confident every game it seems. Too bad Booker was off or they would have taken them.

Ayton is part of the equation too. He needs to grab the ball with strong hands and keep the ball up high rather than bringing it down where the little guys can get at it.
