Didn't watch and not going to - but from the box score it looks like the starters mostly did their jobs and the bench did not. Story of the season.
That’s false- neither did their jobs. Ayton and Bridges did work, the rest of the team sucked regardless of the box score. Cam hit a few big 3s at the end to give us a chance.

I just don't know how a team that beats the Utah Jazz one night can lay an egg against the Pistons a few nights later. What kind of team is this?

The thing I keep coming back to is that I want JJ / the FO to go get us more 3-point shooters in the offseason. There have been way too many games where we make like 20% of our 3s and it is hurting us. We need deep threats all around Ayton and Book so they can dish it out for a high-percentage shot. Cam is a good start; lock Bridges in a gym all summer till he fixes his shot. Search for a starting 4 who can hit 3s. Ditto for a backup guard. Don't sign a single player who cannot shoot 3-pointers. Not a single one.

And why was Ayton 10 for 12 and not getting 20 shots?
THIS. I cannot stress enough how ridiculous it is that he is dominating (I think he had 14 points without a miss at the half) and he ends up with 20 and only 12 touches at 80% FG. Hey Monty, tell your PG or Booker to get Ayton the ball.
And then whenever he’s having a terrible shooting night he gets 25 FGA, I don’t get it! A few of those may be extra FGA due to missed putbacks but still!

The fact that Rubio has the same amount of shots as Ayton tell you all you need to know about Monty and his offensive deficiency. We are constantly passing to Rubio late in the clock for the shot. It’s maddening. He’s the worst option IMO out of the starting lineup. I can appreciate how Ricky runs the offensive (kinda) and his value as a leader but we play into the other teams game plan having him shoot as much as he does. Wake up Monty!

Ugh it seems like Monty never wants to go for the tie. They should have gone to Ayton at the rim.
How many times is Monty going to call for that wet ass play???? Booker to the corner 3 fading away?!! It’s so fucking hard!!! The degree of difficulty is so unnecessary and it has yet to work. For fucks sake call an easier look!!!
Monty has no clue on an effective NBA offense or how to draw up plays. I’m hoping they bring an offensive minded assistant. This 1986 style isn’t working. I remember him saying he wants at least 30 three attempts. Then he never did anything about making sure that actually happened. He’s got good intentions but no clue how to execute them.

He finessed his way into this job the way James Jones did using player relationships as his chip rather than anything that would translate into success.

Suns played to the level of competition and got burned.
This is not a Suns team that can mail it in for 2 1/2 quarters against anybody and expect to win.

Booker made a number of really bad entry passes. Cut down on turnovers, better/more passed to Ayton, and the Suns win by eight.
When they finally turned it on, Rose and BASE could not be stopped. Too late!

Agreed. Is he perfect? No. But he's pretty perfect for this team and in spite of this stinker, they've continued to get better.

I mean we do average over 30 three attempts per game, so not sure why he’d need to do anything. Our bigger problem is making 3’s. We are a below average 3 pt shooting team. If we took more, we’d probably get worse.

I agree with Mori, we need to add shooters to the roster. Saric has been very disappointing. Baynes has been awful after his hot start. Bridges hasn’t shot like we wanted. Rubio was expected. Oubre and Booker are ok. Cam and Carter are the only good 3pt shooters on the team.

This offseason I think we need to replace Saric/Baynes minutes with a big who can hit 38%+. Then we need to replace the okobo/Jerome minutes with another player that can hit 38%+. Then hopefully get some improvements from Oubre/Booker/Bridges. I don’t know if Carter will be back, I’m open to it in a small role. Then we need to get Cam more shots. Limit Rubio’s attempts to corner 3’s as much as possible. Hard to do with him as pg though.

I’m fine with him. I realize stability is the most important thing for this franchise and I’m not at all trying to replace him. The guys seem to like him. I just think he’s illustrated he’s shit for play calling and doesn’t seem to know how to maximize players ability on the court

Can we make him the offensive coach.

We keep shooting ourselves in the foot like this. I mean we are poor shooting team but shooting ourselves in the foot is something that we seem to have been focusing on in practise.

What exactly is this team good at other than shooting free throws?

I think what is tells you is that the league knows Rubio can't shoot, so that is who they leave open. If we had an average shooter and defender and passer at PG, we would be so much better off.
