Or max 3 guys and sign journeymen, vets on minimum deals like the Heat. Cuz Sarver ain't gonna pony up the dough.
Exactly. The Suns have their 2 max guys, and that's who we are going to have to carry us. Needing a third star just means there's a problem with the two that you have.
Post of the year candidate right here.
It’s cute, but it’s just hating to hate

Say that to Lebron Wade and Bosh
Or Curry Thompson Durant Green
Those are terrible comparisons. Those guys came together to go from playoff teams/contenders to champions. Shoot, Curry, Thompson, and Wade won a championship without a third star. You're talking about adding a third star to help a duo that hasn't even had a winning season nor made the playoffs. Come on.
What? No YOU come on!!

You said they aren’t good enough if they need a third star.

I’m showing you examples where teams had 3 stars to win championships.

Yes but that was to win a ring. Not just win 30 games.

You guys are off. The goal is obviously to win a championship.

And none of those guys were 22-23 years old together. You’re judging these guys at a much younger age with unfair expectations.

Another year of experience, add a third star (Dame Lillard - not saying that’s realistic) and some smart role player additions and to me it’s a championship contender

Are you saying if we added Dame to this roster we would be competing for a ring next year? I would think adding him would cost us either Ayton or Booker plus other assets.

If we could somehow get him using Kelly , rubio and 2 unprotected first round picks, I could see us as a legitimate contender. If Book and Ayton continue to grow as they have. We instantly become an attractive destination for FAs as Book and Dame are two highly respected players in the league and with Monty and a clear commitment to winning .

Maybe we don’t make it further than the 5th seed next year but I think the year after we’re legit contenders.

I think what he’s saying is your not even starting a conversation with Portland about Dame unless Booker or Ayton is on the table. Even then, why would they say yes unless Dame has asked out.

Dame probably would ask out, if he knew it meant playing with Booker.

They’re saying we add a third star to Booker and a Ayton and were only winning 30 games

No, we are saying if you need a 3rd star to get to 30 wins, your other two stars are not stars. It would be one thing if you are a top 4 team in the conference and just can get through to the finals. Then you make a trade to bring in another star to push you over the top.

You’re not going to add the required role players to get to being a top 4 team without having significant star power where FAs will want to join. Not when you’ve sucked for a decade and your image has taken a hit.

it might be more about the fact that we don't have a credible/liked owner, and no stability in the FO or on the bench.

Folks, you know that we are still dealing with a young team, and that young teams usually don't win many games, right?

The Celtics and Pacers are two of the top 5 least experienced teams in the league (along with us, Minny, and the Bulls). As far as straight age instead of NBA experience, the Celtics are older than us by 6 months, and the Nuggets are older than us by 12 months.

(I was surprised to learn we are the lightest team in the league)

Wormwood/Superbone 2019/2020 season bet: Suns win < 30 games, Wormwood wins, else 'Bone wins. 1 month avatar shame starting July 1st of winner's choosing. ACCOMPLISHED! 34 wins in a shortened season!

I don't totally buy into this line of thinking. You can't always blame the top 2 guys for the team's result. This is especially the case when one or both of those top players missed a significant number of games this season. And the top 2 guys (and team overall) are super young, so there is bound to be natural improvement.

It's entirely possible that a team with Booker and Ayton as its two best players could win, say, 60 games. But it'd probably be 4-5 years from now when they're both closer to their primes, and with a good supporting cast and strong coaching staff around them. If Book were 31 and Ayton were 28, I'd be there with you in saying they may or may not be able to carry a team. But it's too soon to say for me.

We have been so brutal the past decade we are cool with such low expectations...

I don't think I have low expectations. I'm just trying to have realistic hopes for how good the team is and what it can be. If anything I think I'm a bit of an optimist. I think our current team core can be pretty darn good if we keep them together and let them learn and grow together. I do want them to make improvements to the roster, but I don't think they have a low long-term ceiling if Booker and Ayton are our two best players.
