We have been so brutal the past decade we are cool with such low expectations...
I don't think I have low expectations. I'm just trying to have realistic hopes for how good the team is and what it can be. If anything I think I'm a bit of an optimist. I think our current team core can be pretty darn good if we keep them together and let them learn and grow together. I do want them to make improvements to the roster, but I don't think they have a low long-term ceiling if Booker and Ayton are our two best players.
I said it wrong. It isn't low expectations as much as being OK with low results. And I am not calling out you versus anyone else. We were all going to be ecstatic before the season started if we won over 30 games, and reach a decade of missing the playoffs. This decade has beaten us down over and over and over and we are cheering for small morsels of goodness like it is a feast. It is so disheartening.

I hear you. It isn't that I am okay with 30 wins, per se. It's that I don't think we can really do anything to make a larger upward jump in wins than that. Even if we have exactly the right foundation to build a contender, it will take a few years to let the young core grow and become ready to actually be a winning team. That isn't a plea for complacency or low expectations; it's more a call not to panic and trade away valuable core assets, nor to make panic signings and acquisitions, just because we aren't getting enough wins yet.

how many cores have we had since 2010? There is a common thread this last decade...

And of course this comes from a guy that just bought season tickets for 2021... so I am part of the problem. This isn't directed at any member here over another.

At this point you should just be happy if there is a 2021 season. ;-)

Thank you.

This message of “we need time to let our young core grow before we are ready to add prime FAs and compete for the playoffs” is a total recycle for the last 8 years or so. It’s not working and it’s really getting old.

If there isn't a 20-21 season, we can't have a losing record. silver linings!
