Also: Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have tested positive for COVID-19.

I'd say this nullifies the bet, although on a technical reading I'd win, but they probably would have gotten to 30 if they had played it out (though not certain, they were down to like 5 healthy NBA players, and 3 G-League rejects).

SO, call it a push if this turns out to be the end of the season?

Reminder: If we talk about Coronavirus / COVID-19 here, let's avoid arguing about partisan politics as much as we can. If you have a hot take about the President or remarks of that nature, there's a thread on Corona in the Politics area.

Huge news for the NBA to stop the season. I guess they had to do it, since if even one player has it, no other players would want to play. But this seems completely unprecedented. Will they resume play in time for the playoffs? Will there be a 2020 NBA champion?

The stadium was already full, they should have just played the game.

Indefinite suspension sounds like a hold on things. It doesn’t sound like a guarantee they end the season now without a winner. Maybe they resume at some point.

The Suns already suspended their own season months ago. The joke is on you NBA!

I wonder what this means for Bone’s Vegas bet.

Total speculation, but I can foresee the NBA restarting for the playoffs in a month or so.

A lot depends on the work being done (or not done) by health and government officials to implement effective screening and preventative measures. It also requires common folk to recognize their own symptoms and act responsibly. Pretty high expectations if you ask me, but Korea has done a good job with it for the most part.

This is the only thing that could keep the Suns from winning 30. OGW has gone too far this time.

How will the NBA handle Gobert's illness going forward will be interesting. Clearly this situation supersedes their standard injury protocol. I realize he's an elite athlete and possibly an alien, but Gobert's condition will be a public display of how the virus affects a healthy person.

I'm sure every player in the league was tested today or will be tomorrow at the latest. Why wouldn't they quarantine the infected and restart the season relatively soon? (Likely playing in empty arenas for a while.)

Standard protocol has been for those in contact with a confirmed case to isolate themselves for 14 days. Therefore multiple teams would be unable to play if the players on the Jazz and their recent opponents need to self-quarantine for 14 days.

EDIT: Suns played against Gobert about 15(?) days before he came down with symptoms.

Thank you NBA, for ensuring I don’t have to see the Suns lose another game this season.

If so, I imagine it will be in empty arenas. And “vulnerable population” members like Al McCoy would have to stay home.

That’s what I was thinking. Isn’t it true that a person can test positive for mono years after it’s been in their body? Has Cam been tested for COVID-19?
