I love Amar'e but not exactly sure what he'll bring to the table there, especially if they're looking to trade Allen. Hope Nash isn't just looking to add some buddies to his staff.
I forgot where I saw it, but there was an interview with Amare breaking down some film and showing the types of things he sees while he's on the floor. I think the focus of the interview was how good he was at slashing, getting to open mid-range shots, that sort of thing. But I remember being really impressed with how he was breaking down the film and his insight. And I think there were a bunch of articles on what a great mentor his was to his teammates in Israel.

But that's just it....the Nets aren't exactly a young team in need of mentors. Kyrie and KD have won, Levert and Dinwiddie (if they aren't traded) are solid pros and have been well coached already, DAJ probably won't learn anything from Amar'e. I don't doubt he can lend some insight, but in terms of player development it's a bit odd unless they commit to Allen and Amar'e works mainly with him.

Shooting for 12/22 to start it sounds like
That's nuts. So they are going to have the draft, FA, camp, preseason all from Nov. 18th and Dec. 22nd?
Apparently they’ve been informed they’d lose about 500 million by starting later. And it’s a little quick, but not really a big offseason anyways. Not a lot of cap space to throw around. Draft on Nov 18th, start free agency on the 21st and most guys will have signed before thanksgiving. And while teams aren’t technically allowed to talk to free agents right now, you know there is communication happening from teams and agents. Guys like FVV and Christian Wood probably have a good idea of who is interested and teams probably know as well.

Probably see a lesser trade market, though I imagine Milwaukee try’s to improve the Bledsoe spot. Clippers probably try to land a real pg as well.

Start training camp like Dec. 8th and go for a week. Play 2-3 exhibition games and start 12/22. That’s like 3 weeks before training camp for draft and free agency. It’s quick, but most years see most of the movement in that first week of free agency anyways.

Excellent. I only wish they got the draft done sooner. No reason to have to wait till November.

Yea I think the draft maybe could've been done this week or next week. FOs had enough time from the spring until now to do their homework and interview prospects. Maybe they could've extended the bubble facility for a few weeks after the finals and sent a select group of prospects and FO personnel to get some workouts in or tried it in some combo of markets where multiple teams could take part.

Ya they moved it to Nov 18th to give themselves time to figure out all the offseason plans, but I imagine if they knew they’d choose 12/22 as a start date, they would have gotten the draft done beginning of November at the latest.

I think it's a little irresponsible for the league to rush things like this and not give teams and players dates with enough time to get things sorted. I know the CBA is still being re-negotiated but the NBA shouldn't put the cart before the horse.

But reports are they’d make 500 million more by starting this early..wouldn’t it be more irresponsible to wait another month and cost players millions of dollars?
