I’d definitely rather add an early 2nd and pick Bane over using 10 on Nesmith, but I wouldn’t take Bane at 10. Not sure those numbers tell the whole story though. Nesmith shot 52% this year from 3 on 8 attempts a game. Career wise, ya Bane has been better, but Nesmith had him on efficiency and volume this year. His shot also just looks cleaner to me.

Gotta love the probable top pick saying, "I had a lot of bad games."

Yeah, that was weird.

I would love to see us trade down in the draft and pick up an asset, and then use the lower pick to grab Paul Reed out of DePaul. I just don't see why he's not rated more highly among the different mocks that I've seen. I think he would be perfect for us.
What does he do offensively? That’s the reason he’s in the 2nd round.
I don't buy that with guys like Achiuwa and Okongwu being discussed in the Top 10.

Jaxson Hayes went 8th overall last year, for crying out loud.

I honestly wonder how many people even watched DePaul.

That’s fair, I’m mostly just going off what the draft guys are saying. I personally haven’t watched much film of Reed. A lot just don’t buy him on offense.

So, here's my order of preference at 10:

1. Halliburton. He probably won't be there at 10, but if he is, Suns have to take him. Protoypical modern PG in most respects. Distributor. Great shooter, too. Would fit really well, I think.

2. Aaron Nesmith. Kid can flat out shoot and score. Reports say he's high character, likely to keep getting better. But his shooting is *mwah!* I like him better than Cam Johnson in that regard, and that's saying a lot. Fantastic at hitting shots off of screens. Him and Baynes as part of the bench mob would be brilliant.High character (please, no more Josh Jacksons or Morrii. Or even Aytons for that matter. Knuckleheads are so destructive to teams internally). Can play 3 positions in a pinch, though SF is his most natural slot. 7 foot wing span lets him slide to PF in small ball, though.

3. Devan Vassell. Basically, Mikal 2.0. Not sure how you make that work, though. Super high motor, high character, good 3 point shooter (41%). Classic 3 and D guy. Coaches say he's got what it takes to work on his game seriously.

4. Saddiq Bey. Very Cam Johnson-ish played. 3 and D SF with a big wingspan and a sweet stroke. Again, would fit well with the kinds of guys the Suns like, while moving along from a contract that isn't delivering value on the dollar.

5. Killian Hayes. Basically, a throw away. Reminds me of all the other work in progress PGs we've drafted in the past decade who never panned out. (Kendall Marshall, Ty Jerome). Draft and stash guy, given Cam Payne is ahead of ahead of him to start the season.

Either Nesmith, Vassell, or Bey makes Oubre somewhat redundant (and he sort of is already). Of the guys on the board, I think Nesmith is perhaps my favorite. He's got a Glen Rice vibe. Being able to move Oubre Jr. would allow the Suns to make a run at Christian Wood, who would be the long term answer at starting PF. (Oubre's +/- stats, and efficiency stats, are mediocre to bad. Love him as a person, but not as a player).

Can’t argue with that list WW, those are my top 4 as well, though probably in a slightly different order.

Man, what a waste of a top pick. Minnesota has had a ton of high picks and has just never been able to build a good team even when they got good players.

I guess this is the year to waste to, though. They're going to take Lonzo, right?

Maybe, I see Edwards more likely... though I’m not a big Edwards guy

I haven't heard of Killian Smith. I don't know anything about him, but he's in your top 5? That's interesting.

I haven't seen the versatility of Nesmith yet. I'll have to look into him.

In2ition: I meant Killian Hayes. French PG with a so-so jump shot and middling athleticism. Reminds me a lot of Ty Jerome.

That's not a compliment.

Hayes is a good athlete, haha. Idk what you've been watching. It is wild that you are comparing him to Jerome as far as an athlete. They aren't remotely close.

I haven't dived into the advanced stats or anything like that, but I don't think Reed will have a hard time scoring. I see him offensively much like Shawn Marion -- he can score off broken plays, rolling towards the basket, hit the open shot. I get that he doesn't have Ray Allen's form when he shoots, but I don't think he's a bad shooter. But last year, he shot almost 52% from the field, and almost 74% from the FT line. And he's a really solid defender.

I just think he's going to be the steal of the draft, and if we were to pick him 10th, at the end of the day I wouldn't have much problem with it. But we could totally trade down, pick up an asset, and get him that way too. I also don't think he's going to last till the 2nd round. Some team is going to take him with a late 1st. I just really don't get how he's not viewed more favorably in this draft by the experts.

Lol, Killian Hayes is nothing like Ty Jerome. I mean, I guess they are the same height. The similarities end there though.

Trading down is my preference to. There are guys that are going to go in the 20s and second round that will outperform lottery picks. Trade down, get multiple picks, and call it a day.

They'll be plenty of room. You have to field a roster, might as well do it with guys that have upside. Okobo will be gone, Diallo will be gone, and Ty Jerome should be included in any deal involving the 10th pick or Oubre.

You have the restart starting 5, then Payne, a resigned Carter, a resigned Saric, and for now, throw in Oubre. Lecque has a guaranteed deal. We'll use the MLE. So that is 11 players. Got room for 4 more.
