Who is going to take over for Al after this season?
He’s going to retire after 49 years? Why not make it an even half century?
I hope we get one more year of Al, but I wouldn't blame him for hanging it up. He's old.

He might want to not travel around the US calling games until he dies. He was already beat death by ~10 years.

I hadn’t heard that he’s officially retiring.

I haven't exactly either. But before last year was over when he was asked about this season, he said "we'll see" and when they Suns had their kick off even for ticket holders they way they phrased it seemed odd. They said something like "and when you can't watch Fox Sports AZ, tune into 98.7 to listen to legendary hall of fame broadcaster, and voice of the Phoenix Suns, Al McCoy, as he returns for another season."

Ya, Monk would be freaked out over that.

He's been taking it one season at a time for awhile now, sort of like Larry Fitzgerald haha.

Jon Bloom started doing a bunch of the road games last season, but now during the pandemic Al can do road games from home. Bloom is next in line to take over when Al retires. If the broadcasters start going on the road again, I could see Al doing another year but only home games. At least I hope he would choose that over retiring completely.

How about a Suns championship to cap off Al's 50th season? Now that would be a great way to end his legendary career!
