Game Day: Grizzlies (17-18) @ Suns (25-12), Mon 3/15/21

Post by Superbone »

Time: 7:00 pm AZ (7:00 pm PT/10:00 pm ET)
Place: Phoenix Suns Arena, Phoenix, AZ
TV: FSAZ, NBALP

The Suns look to get back on track versus the reeling Memphis Grizzlies. Once again the Suns are coming off a day of rest while the Grizzlies played last night in OKC. I hope to see the Suns learn their lesson from the last game and step on Memphis early. No messing around.

Go Suns!!!

How long has Cam been out? Feels like we’ve move past the 7-day standard quarantine for contact with someone who tested positive. Does this mean Cam likely tested positive himself? Hopefully he’s ok and has a quick recovery.

I believe he's been out since our last game before the All-Star break, so it would seem he tested positive?

That is my assumption, too. So might be another 2-3 weeks before he is back playing again. Or maybe he had slight (to no) ill effects and could be back next week. It is weird how secretive the NBA is about it. They will tell you the exact type of sprain, strain, tear, or cancer a player has, but can't say covid-19 for some reason.

I think it might be a HIPAA / personal privacy thing. There are some people who put a stigma on others for having been infected with COVID, so players may not want it blasted out that they caught it. And the NBA may have agreed not to broadcast info that a given player has COVID without that player's explicit consent to do so.

They mention HIPAA at time, but again, a couple months ago the talked about LeVert's cancerous kidney. I am doubting they get written approval to share every ailment before doing so.

I assume it is an unwritten rule that Silver passed down to try and gloss over it.

Once you get Covid you are pretty much immune and can’t spread it for at least 8 months minimum I believe. I had it and now I feel a lot more comfortable going out in public knowing I most likely can’t get it or spread it. Nothing is for certain. There are many strains now and nobody knows for sure how long immunity lasts or if being immune to one strain makes you immune to another strain but, generally speaking I feel safer knowing I had it and recovered than if I didn’t get it and hadn’t had a vaccine. If I was a player and caught it and recovered I wouldn’t have a problem with people knowing. I would want to announce it.

It might be true that you can't get it again for some time unless there's another strain, but I don't know whether it's been definitively concluded that you cannot transmit it. Don't want to get into the depth of this Covid thing in a game thread though.

“8 months minimum” is an overconfident take, a fairy tale. I’ve seen people get it 4 months later. May not be the majority (still need time to determine that), but to say something so demonstratively is dangerous.

I said in the Pacers thread that I look fwd to Book torching Brooks (I just find him annoying, nothing wrong with playing hard) but he thinks he's better than he is

Not the most energetic start and we will need DA against Valanciunas tonight. Think he is too big for Dario

Brooks defends Book about as good as anyone. Getting killed on the offensive boards again

Valanciunas already has 11 and 9 and the 1st quarter isn't done yet.

The effort is there, but the Suns can't seem to put the ball in the basket.

Geez 8 straight misses for the Suns, Grizz up 21-14 in an ugly one. Monty's going deep into the bench with Gallo to try and get some shots to fall. Just no flow or continuity and JV's been hurting us inside.

Aytons got a lot of daddys.

Decent close to the quarter besides letting another player I don't really fancy (Grayson  ) score on that last possession
