Yes.
He hits 7 threes one game, then shoots 20% for 10 games, rinse and repeat.
Way too inconsistent and shoots us out of games.
I really hope we address our 4 position this off-season and it starts with Crowder either going to the bench or another team. I would ideally package Jae or Dario with Cam J and solidify that spot with someone that is more dynamic and not such a one dimensional player.

I’ve wondered if Toronto would consider moving Pascal Siakim

Hmm, he makes a lot, but he’s a good player. 3/100 million after this year. He was 21/8/5. The shooting numbers aren’t great, but I think they’d go up being more of a 3rd option here. He’s a fantastic defensive player. He’s a better rebounder than any of our 3/4 combos. He provides some playmaking...he’d be huge in this current series or when teams try to trap Book or Paul. I’d jump at the chance of moving Saric/Crowder/Smith for him.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 12:06 pmConsider? I think they would giggle if anyone would be willing to take him and his monstrosity of a contract on.
IMO he is one of the worst contracts out there

Pascal Siakim is a complex player. He has a lot of good attributes: 2-way player, playmaker, 3-point range. But he is woefully inconsistently, has too many horrendous shooting nights, and his contract is abysmal.
I do think the Raptors should move him, but I don't know that I want the Suns to pursue him.

Agreed. Crowder has won the Suns some games this year, and overall he is a solid role player. But I feel the same way about his acquisition now as I did then: it was the wrong move.
When Jones locked us in on CP3, the cupboard was relatively bare in terms of ways we could add to the team. The MLE needed to be used to address a need, not add another role playing swingman. I get desiring the grit, veteran leadership/experience that Crowder brings to the table, but like so many of Jones moves, it put a cap on how good this team could be good. Too much emphasis has been put on raising the floor while making moves that lowered the ceiling.

At the end of the day he is a solid player making superstar money. That is the #1 recipe for handicapping your organizationSplit T wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 1:27 pmHmm, he makes a lot, but he’s a good player. 3/100 million after this year. He was 21/8/5. Ya I get that, but we’d conceivably have everyone locked up with Paul/Book/Bridges/Siakim/Ayton under contract or under team control. Would just need Sarver to pony up the money and pay the tax.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 2:14 pmAt the end of the day he is a solid player making superstar money. Siakim has the skillset to really thrive under Monty Williams, but he also is a headcase too. He has had a number of unsavory moments over the last two seasons. That is a lot too stomach when he already is overpaid from a production/consistency standard.

I haven’t paid enough attention to catch his head case moments...he did fall off a cliff production wise last year before the playoffs though.

There’s essentially no chance we trade for Siakam and have money to retain Bridges and Ayton. You’re talking about two guys that are about to get deals at $20M+ and booker and Paul at max deals already. Yeah and you have to field 10 other guys on the roster. It’s realistically impossible, not an owner in the league would go that far into the luxury tax.
You’re also talking about trading everyone we have on the roster other than the guys you mentioned to be able to make it work by matching salaries.

Saric/Crowder/Smith/Carter would be enough salary.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 4:48 pmThere’s essentially no chance we trade for Siakam and have money to retain Bridges and Ayton. If CP3 opts out and takes a 3 yr 90 million dollar deal that goes 32/30/28, you’d have these salaries:
Booker 33
Paul 32
Siakim 31
Ayton 12
Bridges 5
Johnson 4
Then you bring back Payne with some of the MLE...let’s say 6.
29th pick at like 2
BAE at 3
Vet with rest of MLE at 3(Torrey Craig?)
That’s 10 guys at 131 million
Then 5 minimum deals.
Luxury tax is 136 million.
Now the year after gets tricky when the Ayton and Bridges extensions kick in, but I think it’s doable.

You’re at 131 with Bridges making 4 million. If he and DA get a combined 40 million you’re at 157.

I like Siakam, and I think some of his offcourt issues may be situational. Feels like he's going to go to some random team in a year, like New Orleans or OKC, and be awesome for them. But I don't think we could make the salaries work. They would make every one of our starters a $20m+ player at a minimum once we pay Ayton and Bridges. I think we'd be over the cap just for our starting lineup, and way into the tax once you add up the full roster. Plus we'd have to gut our depth to get him. I don't completely hate the idea of getting him, though. He's exactly the kind of player you should target, a really talented young guy who is undervalued due to a bad team situation.
