Figured it twas worth the dedicated space to ask the .net how we feel about each of the signings (and/or future ones).

Very happy with the Cam Payne deal ... fans gonna love a player signing for unders!
Javale McGee is logical given need and who's available.
CP3... we're just staying the course ... I hear 3rd is partially guaranteed and 4th is non guaranteed (does that mean team option?)

A few rambling thoughts as I wait for Spain vs US to go live:

Book has a teammate in Tokyo now. Will he take advantage of this time to start forming that relationship and communicating? Javale is still an effective rim protector and a surprising situational scorer. Would like to see another big or a versatile wing added in the coming weeks.

Bringing in Cam Payne on a team-friendly deal is an amazing win for us. He is now wealthy beyond his wildest dreams, and playing with a team he clearly loves. Legit happy for this dude. Hope to see him continue to develop and improve his skillset along with the rest of our young core.

Always thought CP was destined to be a Phoenix Sun. Kind of funny it finally happened age 35-40, and moreso that it actually worked out. Roster consistency over several years is how organically grown teams like ours become great. Locking up CP keeps us in the conversation as title contenders these next few years.

If we can get some chemistry between McGee and the 3 PnR guards, we can expect little drop-off when Ayton is out. 48 minutes of PnR dominance, ba-by.

Now...if we could only find a PF that can shoot and rotate over to grab defensive rebounds...

With his signing a good but team friendly contract, Payne is joining Socks and Frank Johnson in the pantheon of great Suns backup PGs.

Payne deal - Fantastic.

McGee - Covers part of our need for a year so spot on. We can be looking for a replacement the following year etc.

Paul - Love that we locked him up, the fact that the 3rd is a partial and the fourth is not guarenteed either is exactly what we need.

Now for the more length and defense we need at the 4 now.

Love the moves and the contracts. We gave Payne a chance to get back to the league and he took less money to stay in a great situation. Love that it worked out for both sides. Great to have him back.

Paul's deal looks better as more details come out.

McGee will be fine for us as long as we don't put too many expectations on him. He's a shotblocker/rebounder and lob threat. I like that he's a vet who's been around (despite his boneheadedness) and has played in a lot of different systems for a bunch of different coaches. He knows his role - could be 10 minutes off the bench, a few starts if needed, or some DNPs. Like others have said, he should help ensure there's no drop off defensively inside when DA sits. The only thing that seems confusing to some is the actual number he got. It's a little more than half the non-tax MLE, which some find odd.

We know we need another big at the 4/5 spot. Not too many names out there - Millsap would probably be the best option. Nemanja Bjelica would give us that Dario look. Mike Scott could give us spot minutes at the 4 and can hit the 3. Monty may know him from Philly.

They had to significantly overpay him to keep him from signing with Denver or another contender he's already had a relationship with, IMO.

Yea I don't think the range of money is the issue, just why not exactly half the MLE of 4.6mil. Some think 5 is just an weird number. I don't really care either way.

What other FAs of our own do we still have left unsigned? Kaminsky? Some of the end-of-the-bench guards like Galloway and Moore? I see that Craig signed a 2-year deal with the Pacers.

Where does Marcus Banks rank on that list?

Lol. I still can’t believe that Mike D’Antoni chose him over drafting Rajon Rondo.

It was Griff who pushed the Banks signing.

So James Jones had no choice in who we signed at center, lol.

Javale's $5 mil contract is fine. This is a true center with 3 championships. He brings shot blocking and rebounding to a team that desperately needs more of it. Other teams might have offered more, so James Jones jumping on him immediately was great. I'm all for the move.
