Weekly News Thread Assignments

Who would like to takeover as weekly thread maker? You can do it in any style you like. I wasn’t able to do it much last year and we went to the finals. I still have a lot going on medically and dealing with bullshit from Ida so let’s keep that going! If we can’t find someone for the season maybe we can rotate weekly on a volunteer basis and each week that person can do it up how they want?

I'll give it a try, but I might ask others to help out at some point. I don't have any of the subscriptions, so I'll probably be missing the long form stuff.

You did a great job with it for a long time, Carey.

Thanks for everything you do Carey, and hope your situation gets better soon.

I have not made threads in the past and the timezone thing makes it slightly difficult for me, but I'm sure we'll all pitch in to keep the tradition going!

WORD. The real site MVP, consistently posting quality threads and content week after week. Didn't get a penny of thanks for his troubles, either; just did it for all you folks and the community. Thank you for everything you've done, carey. And we're all rooting for you.

What if we made like a Google Sheet and signed up for the weekly threads?

That is a good idea. I would put more into it if I knew the week I had signed up for, then maybe it would be ~30% as good as Carey's.

Also, if you do that, you could easily make it a template so we would all have a similar format.

Thanks for volunteering to do that WP! ;)

I would be willing to be part of a rotation of making weekly threads as long as I didn't have to do it every week. Maybe if we can get 4-5 of us on the list or more, it would only be once a month or less that each person had to handle it. Does that sound good?

Sorry everyone! Here's the sheet, feel free to make any changes to make it better, everyone with the link has edit access:

I filled in Superbone for week 1.

Hmm, didn't expect it to embed the spreadsheet.... Here's the link again:

Just add "https://" to the start

Anyone want to work on a template?

I signed up for some more too. Once a month should be too bad. Maybe if carey has time he could give us his template from last year if he had one. Or any tips and tricks for finding the news articles?

By the way, I love that it embeds the sheet in the page here so I can scroll through without opening it in another window.

Next up...

Question for the group. Should it be Sunday - Saturday or Monday - Sunday? I've seen it done both ways.

I believe the power rankings all post Monday morning and that seems to be a nice kickoff to the threads, so I vote Monday.

Yea I've been doing mine Monday-Sunday. Monday is usually when a bunch of newer articles hit.

Actually could somebody do me a big favor and swap me weeks and make the threads for this week? Pleeeeease? I am swamped; my kids' daycare shut down due to a COVID positive case, so I have had 3 screamers all over me all day as I try to do my full-time job. Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
