Game Day: Hawks (4-5) @ Suns (4-3), Sat 06/11/21

Time: 7:00 pm AZ (7:00 pm PT/10:00 pm ET)
Place: Footprint Center, Phoenix, AZ
TV: BSAZ, NBALP, NBATV

Wow.....
No thread...... No Worries ! :) 8-)

The Hawks come to town and this should be an interesting matchup. We split with them last year with Trae killing us in the first matchup both scoring and in the PnR with Capela/ Collins. With DA out tonight we might have a challenge defending that, the good news however is Trae is one who is struggling with how the refs are calling games so far. He has not been able to keep defenders as off balance by baiting them into those shooting fouls so hopefully Mikal and others don't get any BS calls tonight. Speaking of Mikal, Hawks like to hide Trae on one of the lesser scoring options which was Mikal last year. I was disappointed that we didn't attack him more so now that we run more plays for Mikal I am very curious how that plays out because it can be easy for us to target him on D the way Mikal has started the season.
Well let's keep the homestand win streak going, more of the same from Shamet tonight and hopefully our center duo can follow up on their game against Pels.

Go Suns !!!

I personally was surprised that we played DA against the Rockets of all teams. Thought we would give him a little longer off but dude should be alright going forward and I don't mind if we be extra careful.

Also wanted to mention that last season it was Bogdanovic as the other guy who hurt us but so far this season Reddish has looked solid and Hunter seems to be finding a rhythm. Either way when it comes to Wing players production I will always back our guards/forwards group

Nice! Was just about to start the Gameday Thread.

The Hawks' frontcourt would be a challenge even if we had DA so tonight should be that much tougher facing guys like Capela, Collins, Dieng and Gallo off the bench. JaVale is starting, Frank will be the first big off the bench and Monty said Jalen will see time at the 5. Good news is Cam Payne is back so we'll see how he looks.

Refs letting a lot go inside, JaVale went back to the lockerroom about 3 minutes in after getting hit in the face by Capela. Might've gotten poked in the eye.

Frank comes in and we go on a run hitting three 3s - Book, Frank and Jae. Frank also had a great pass to a cutting Mikal. Crazy how well the ball moves when he's in there.

Kaminsky genuinely helped make about 3-4 plays in a row for us. Nice minutes for him tonight.

Kaminsky is the Suns' second leading scorer at half, 14 pts.
Also has three assists and a block.

Cam Johnson still cold from outside, but had a couple of steals and hustle plays.

Payne learned at the end of the first half why you don’t shoot the last shot too early. Cost us 3 points.

Noticed that, also. He looked rusty ...

Still does in the 3Q.

We need an upgrade for the Nader minutes. I'd rather go 9 deep.

I hope Ayton missing games isn’t him being “hurt”.

Great comeback from being down by 12 early in the 4Q.
Kaminsky was key with 16.
Booker had perhaps the best game of the early season with 38.
Paul with 16 and 13 assists.
Crowder awoke in the second half, 15 pts and 8 boards.
Shamet was solid off the bench with 12.

Gutsy win from this team who wasn’t as hot as the Hawks but held it together long enough until the opportunity was available.

I can’t believe how well Frank has been playing. Dude finally got some confidence.

I really can’t explain why Nader gets minutes. I swear any time the guy he was guarding shot, it went in. He’s absolutely brutal. If Cam J ever gets out of his awful shooting slump I don’t think you can justify playing Nader

Watching also. They are embarrassing. Vogel’s got about a week or 2 to show progress or he’s done.

Maybe we should have stuck with Payton at least another game or two.
