After a slow start, Payne got into a groove. 13 pts. 4 assts.

McGee had 19 pts., 14 rebs, 3 blocks. 7 offensive rebounds .... Houston as a team had 10 ...

Feel like Nader has a bit of Bledsoe in him. Jumps in the air and then figures out what to do with the ball.

I had forgotten all about House Jr. What happened to him? He barely sees the light of day with this team.

As I ask that, he fouls Payne with 0.3 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.

Houston is a mess.
There's talent, but it's about as organized as a pickup game team.

8 game winning streak, and we still have some areas to improve.
Wow.

That's to be expected when playing without a point guard. IMO, they need to ditch Kevin Porter Jr. for a point guard as soon as possible.

I don’t understand why the starters are still in with 5:21 to go and the Suns up 26.

It took a Chris Paul throw it through the defenders legs and then nail the free throw jumper before they finally took him out.

Agree that Porter Jr. is not a lead guard. He plays too fast and loose.
Eric Gordon is somewhat wasted in a part-time role. The Rockets need a vet on the floor and he's solid on both ends.

Sort of like the Suns just a few years ago.

It was as if Monty forgot we have a game tomorrow!

In the same way that the D'Antoni-era Rockets sort of eerily followed the path of the D'Antoni-era Suns, the post-era Rockets are now in the "play young knuckleheads without a clue big minutes and hope that they'll learn something while getting killed on a nightly basis" phase that the Suns wasted about a decade on.

I listened to the Rockets broadcast tonight. In with the new and out with the old. So much more listenable now that ol’ homer extraordinaire, Bill Worrell finally retired.

I feel like the Rockets have 6 of the same guy - all long, rangy, streak shooting/slashing athletic wings. They gotta shake out the roster a bit on the perimeter.

Clyde Drexler is among the worst color commentators ever.

Luckily, he wasn't there either. I didn't mind their color commentator at all tonight. Former player but I don't recall whom. Plus they relegated Calvin Murphy to the pregame/halftime/postgame desk so I didn't have to listen to him.

ETA: Looked it up, Ryan Hollins.

Some observations from this game...

1. I'm impressed with Shamet's defensive footwork. Like with Cam J, I'm not that worried about Shamet. He has a very clear role on the team and he is playing that role very well.
2. Crowder is shooting more in the mid range this year. I wonder if the coaching staff is asking the guys to mix up their offense more, or if this is organic.
3. It's just not part of Cam J's makeup to shoot every open shot. I think it'll take some nudging from the coaching staff if that's what we want to see out of him.
4. That sky hook was fun.
5. Kaminsky was playing tentative. Felt like last year's Kaminsky again.
6. That might have been the first post up possession I've seen for Bridges near the end of the first half.
7. Booker's handles are better this year. Still not quite get a shot with 3 seconds on the clock good, but definitely more complex than last year.
8. Gordon is super strong.

It bothered me when he would drive into the lane and have the defender backpedaling but he wouldn’t rise for the shot. I’ve noticed it in other games too. This is something his buddy Bridges has gotten a lot better at this year.
