Suns News: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
Re: Suns News: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
I’ve seen a few All-NBA articles lately leave out Chris Paul altogether which is crazy. The whole thing is so narrative driven. Before he hurt his hand, everyone was saying CP needed to be in the MVP conversation and all-NBA first team and Booker was an afterthought. 15 games later it’s the opposite. Paul has played 3 fewer games than Booker. Were the games that he played earlier in the season while Booker was out less valuable?
None of this is to say Booker isn’t deserving of his flowers, but it seems like Paul is only being left off because his injury coincided with the discourse heating up.

Ya I just listened to the Dunker Spot podcast, they usually do a great job, but they both left CP3 off the all-nba teams and Steve Jones had Booker 3rd team with Harden!? WTF? Harden? He’s got some numbers but his defense has been atrocious and his efficiency isn’t great. Both did have Booker 4th in mvp and Monty for COTY.
For All-NBA I think they went
Nekias:
1st Team: Luka, Booker, Tatum, Giannis, Jokic
2nd Team: Ja, Curry, Durant, LeBron, Embiid
3rd Team: Trae, Derozan, Butler, Siakam, Towns
Think that’s mostly ok, but Derozan is not a guard and you can easily move him to F and give CP3 Butler or Siakam’s spot.
Jones:
1st Team: Ja, Luka, Derozan, Giannis, Embiid
2nd Team: Trae, Curry, KD, LeBron, Jokic
3rd Team: Booker, Harden, Butler, Tatum, Towns
I may have got a few of those wrong, specifically 2nd and 3rd Team F, but I think that’s what he did. Derozan 1st team seems weird, Chicago has fallen apart and while he’s a great offensive player, he’s not better than KD, LeBron, or Tatum. And the Harden pick is just mind boggling to me. He quit on a team, he’s been inefficient all year on field goals and is only buoyed up by free throws and the fact he always has the ball. To pick him over CP3 is just malpractice…not only is CP3 on a much much better team, but his numbers are better. CP3 blows him away in advanced stats.

I was glad to see that all the TNT guys last night had Book on the first team. Of course, it was TNT's B team.
"Be Legendary."
Re: Suns News: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
I am seeing Book on a lot of 1st teams…I’m pretty sure he’s going to get that and be top 5 mvp. It is funny that everyone shifted to giving Book all the credit and not CP3. Funny thing is we’re so far ahead of the rest of the league that there’s plenty of credit to give both of them.
I went and figured out the extrapolated 82 game record for all the top guys when they are actually playing and here it is:
Booker - 67-15
CP3 - 67-15
Curry- 58-24
Giannis - 55-27
Luka - 55-27
Embiid - 54-28
Butler - 54-28
Durant - 53-29
Rudy - 53-29
Tatum - 52-30
Bam - 52-30
Jokic - 51-31
Morant - 51-31
Mitchell - 51-31
KAT - 49-33
Siakam - 48-34
Derozan - 47-35
Trae - 43-39
LeBron - 37-45

Re: Suns News: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
I just finished that, too. I thought it was funny Jones had Book as #4 in MVP, but at least #5 and maybe #6 in "best guard in the league" but none of his MVP picks ahead of Book were a guard, and neither was his 5th MVP pick.Split T wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 12:15 pmYa I just listened to the Dunker Spot podcast, they usually do a great job, but they both left CP3 off the all-nba teams and Steve Jones had Booker 3rd team with Harden!? Is this just their games played extrapolated, or if their entire team was healthy, extrapolated?Split T wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 12:33 pmI am seeing Book on a lot of 1st teams…I’m pretty sure he’s going to get that and be top 5 mvp. Interesting that it’s not a multi-year deal. I wonder if Ish held firm in negotiation.
Re: Suns News: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
I assume they both did. Book is eligible for a supermax extension and big raise if he makes All-NBA 1st team, right? And we already have Torrey, Jae and Dario on the books for next year, not to mention CamJ's extension and DA.
Re: Suns News: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
Chess pieces will be moved around next year.
Re: Suns News: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
Will probably move Jae and then bring in Trevor Ariza on a vet min deal.

Some numbers on Ish this year:
Per-36
10.2 pts, 5.6 reb, 1.7 ast, 1.8 stl, and .7 blk and he shot 39/31/58 for a .488 TS%
However, when you only consider the 13 games he played at least 10 minutes in:
14.7 pts, 6.3 reb, 1.4 ast, 1.2 stl, .8 blk and he shot 48/45/60 for a .602 TS%
