Around the League: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
It seems kinda crazy that at least one of Brooklyn, Atlanta, or Cleveland will not make the playoffs…and potentially 2 if Charlotte gets in. All 4 play-in teams in the east would be ahead of the 8th seed in the west. 11 and 12 in the east would be in the play-in in the west. Of course #7 in the west would be a playoff team outright in the east without needing the play-in.
Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
Probably shouldn’t factor in that much because it’s against the Pacers, but Embiid just dropped a 41/20/4/2/1 on 14/17 shooting. Putting together one last mvp push.

Yea I just got around to checking the East standings
A big bummer for Cavs, I assumed their record had taken a big hit without Jarrett Allen and yup 7-13 in their last 20 games after being 36-25 around the All Star break
They hosted All Star weekend with couple All Stars and things were really looking up in The Land. Garland continues to play out of his mind but obviously not the same team without Allen and I feel there's a good chance they get bounced in the Play In tbh
Would be a real unfortunate end to their season

Yup that battle for the 3rd seed. Celtics have Grizz tmr but Grizz might not play their guys so Cs probably remain 3rd seed
Getting to play the Bulls at 6 looks like a real prize right now, those guys don't seem a threat to anyone

Can anyone explain to me why Utah is listed as the 5 seed over Denver when they have the same record, are in the same division, and Denver swept Utah this year?
Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
Oh, Utah swept Denver, not the other way around. My bad.

Ja is back, Grizz regular starting 5 getting their final tune up as I assume they all sit tomorrow. They are absolutely steamrolling the Pelicans.
Celtics will beat Grizz reserves tmr so looks like Boston (3) vs Chicago (6) and Philly (4) vs Toronto (5)

That’s a great draw for Boston if so…the only potentially easier draw would be if Cleveland or Charlotte got in, but I expect it to be Brooklyn and Atlanta

After tonight’s loss, the Spurs are locked into the 10th spot.

Considering the Jazz are playing Portland tomorrow, it looks like every is set now for the seeding except the results of the play in games. It sucks that we don't get to know our opponent for a week.
Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
There’s a chance Dallas and GS can still flip…GS would have to lose to NO who’s probably gonna rest though because they locked in the 9th spot
Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
I'm thinking most likely it'll be the Wolves. Either them or the Clippers but the Clippers won the season series 3-1 and that was before Paul George came back so I think the Clippers take that play in game putting them in the 7 seed.

Is it just me, or does the play-in tournament disadvantage the #1 and #2 seeds? For one, as you say, they don't know who their opponent will be so they can't strategize as well during the break before the playoffs. Second, rather than facing whomever happens to be 8th or 7th (usually not super formidable opponents), now the #1 and #2 seed have to face whichever team is most formidable between teams 7-10. That could end up being some team that is really good but had bad injury luck, or whatever. The team that comes out of the play-in could be a lot scarier than the one that would be in the 7 or 8 seed in the old system. I guess none of these teams truly scare me right now, but I wonder about the incentive structure and what it does for teams that work hard to get a #1 or #2 seed.

I’ve always thought the 1 seed should get super home court advantage. So it would be a 2-2-3 series.
Re: Around the League: Week 25 (4/4 - 4/10)
I’ve wondered that too, need to incentivize the 1 and 2 seeds more. Giving them 5 home games in a 7 game series would help. Letting them pick who they play out of the 5-8 seeds could too.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 8:33 amI’ve always thought the 1 seed should get super home court advantage. And the #2 seed gets to know their opponent earlier than the #1 seed. #1s have to have all 3 play in games happen for their conference (9-10, 7-8, winner of 9-10 vs loser of 7-8). #2 seeds know as soon as #7 plays #8.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 8:05 amIs it just me, or does the play-in tournament disadvantage the #1 and #2 seeds? Using this to up my strong preference of having a live, televised draft where the top seeds get to pick their opponent and each team has to have a player representative there. How great would it be to see Book tell PatBev he picks him in round 1.Split T wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 8:38 amI’ve wondered that too, need to incentivize the 1 and 2 seeds more. I agree, but the 1& 2 seeds do get that extra week off to get healthy.MightyMoog wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 8:33 amI’ve always thought the 1 seed should get super home court advantage. So it would be a 2-2-3 series.
