Around the League: Week 26 (4/11 - 4/17)
Re: Around the League: Week 26 (4/11 - 4/17)
People in the national sports media really want the Celtics to be a thing. They would never vote for Smart if he had identical stats playing for, say, the Pelicans.

Totally agree.

I think Smart is a perfectly reasonable pick. He’s been great and Boston does have the best defense
Re: Around the League: Week 26 (4/11 - 4/17)
Yeah, Smart isn't a bad pick for DPOY. I am not sure why this would upset people.
Re: Around the League: Week 26 (4/11 - 4/17)
Because it's not Bridges. Duh!
BTW, who's looking forward to watching basketball tonight?! Can't wait!

Smart is a flopper! Bridges doesn't rely on those shenanigans. He's the real deal. DPOTY easily.

WHAT??? Who scheduled a night off?! This is ridiculous!

I would have rather had Hornacek over Ainge in the finals. I know, if wishes were horses ... My biggest gripe from those years was if Barkley had kept his conditioning up, we should have won the finals the next two years. Don't get me started on what we received back when we traded him.

Just think what a difference center piece of that trade (at least the center piece according to Jerry) has done for our current team.ShadowHawke wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 7:41 pmI would have rather had Hornacek over Ainge in the finals. The media earlier this season: The Celtics need to trade Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and here's 30 reasons why.
The media now: we should give the Celtics awards for being such a good and consistent team who we believed in from day 1.

It’s just 1 award, there’s no rule that the best record has to win everything. The suns are going to get lots of recognition during award season.

I'm stumped, lol. I know Mark Bryant is a coach for us...Indy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 7:48 pmJust think what a difference center piece of that trade (at least the center piece according to Jerry) has done for our current team.ShadowHawke wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 7:41 pmI would have rather had Hornacek over Ainge in the finals. Also, I love this quote from an old article on the trade:
Cassell, who returned to Houston after a charity basketball game in Memphis, described the move as business.
"I know the Rockets wanted Charles to get here," Cassell told KRIV-TV in Houston. "Hopefully, {Houston} can regain another championship but I'm going to try to make it as hard as possible."
Cassell said Robert Barr, Rockets vice president of basketball affairs, notified him of the trade.
"It's not like I'm a guy that can't play the game of basketball, and this is my last stop," Cassell told the station. "I'm going down to Phoenix and learn everything I can from Kevin {Johnson} before he retires. Then, I'll step right in when he retires, and it will be my ballclub."

He is regularly credited with a lot of the progress Ayton has been making season to season.Charlie Smithy! wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 9:31 pmI'm stumped, lol. His 8 second violation against the Suns in the 2006 playoffs will be my lasting memory of Sam Cassell.
