Wow, that's actually a really serious injury. Does anybody have the clip of the play when it happened?

Oof, injured while playing in a 30 point game with 3 minutes left? Why the heck was he still out there?

I saw a clip of him after the game and he was acting fine, so my guess is they didn't know the severity of the injury until getting it scanned. But yeah, there was no reason for him to be playing at that time.

That's too bad for Embiid. I hope he can get back on the court soon. The 76ers deserve to have a real run to see what their team is capable of. They seem to have such bad luck.

It's yet another reminder that every single minute one of your stars is on the floor, they could get hurt. You have to manage these guys' minutes and yank them out once the game is well in hand. Trust your bench to finish the game.

I hope he’s back on the court next year, fuck ‘em go Suns

I don’t wish injury on people (except a select few), but if they’re already hurt I hope they take their sweet time recovering. I’m a Suns fan, fuck the rest

Gobert isn’t wrong, but he handled that completely wrong.

If I’m utah I ship Rudy away. Rudy thinks he’s a top 10 nba player and the Jazz have backed him by giving him the salary of a top 10 player. Problem is he’s not that good. He’s a great player, but he’s severely limited on offense and for some reason the Jazz have tried to make him feel like he’s important on offense. I think it’s gone to his head. His job is to just be good enough on defense that the Jazz could sacrifice defensive talent for offensive talent at the other 4 positions.

It seems like Rudy got frustrated because he has no help on defense, but that’s by design and he’s no help on offense, so it seems fair. At the least that needs to be a private conversation. But it seems Rudy and Donovan have clashed for awhile and they clearly need to be separated. They are going to be a fascinating team this summer. Personally I’d blow the whole thing up. Not many tanking teams and they’d have a chance to snag a difference maker in the draft next year.

but who wants to pay him 170M over the next 4 years as just their defensive center that can't switch and can't be trusted on offense?

Someone who has an offensive player who does everything already(Dallas or Atlanta)

I could also see Charlotte interested as they’ve always been looking for a C.

But you are committing to being far into the tax area, right? So his ~43M/year is more like 60M? I can't see a non-huge market team doing that. So LA, San Fran, Chicago, NY, Miami? That seems like a crazy option to choose for them.

If you’re getting off bad contracts to do it. Atlanta could send Capela and Collins who are both signed to big long term deals. The question is whether the Capela to Gobert upgrade is worth Collins.

Dallas would certainly include Hardaway and Bertans. At that point it would just be up to what else Utah wants to pull the trigger.

Charlotte could get away with it because they’ve got Ball on a rookie deal and he’s cheap at the moment.

Dallas with Gobert is very scary.

Moral of the story is you better make a high percentage if you’re gonna take a lot of mid range shots

Interesting, but a lot of those other teams that are eliminated lost to really good opponents like the Bucks, Celtics, SUNS, or Heat.

Really, but the Suns aren’t scary? Come on man.

Gobert is not scaring anyone. He is so easily played off the floor in the postseason on both ends. Can’t move his feet. Suns would kill him in drop coverage and if he then switched instead he’s BBQ chicken

A big part of that is because of how bad the rest of the team is defensively. If he had 1 good perimeter defender and 1 good front court defender that could rotate over when he contests, I don't think you would see him played off the floor. The Jazz just aren't built right.

Ya it’s not Rudy’s fault, defensively at least. His inability to make the small ball lineups pay on offense is a problem.

Defensively utah is just built for Rudy to cover for everyone. He tries to both defend his man in the corner and cover for everyone else and that’s just not possible.
