Suns 2022 Off-Season Thread

Ok, so what do we do now?

Big questions are what do we do with Ayton? I don’t think there’s anyway you can max him. I’d mostly been against it, came around to it, but this series clinched it for me. We cannot max him. If he’ll take a Bridges like deal, sure. Otherwise, I’m trading him. We absolutely need a 3rd creator. Not that Eric Gordon would’ve made a difference tonight, but how we didn’t just go get him is crazy to me. He was there for the taking.

The way I see it is we have really only 1 choice. We have to go for it. We’re tied to CP3 and while I think it’s going to be hard to win with him getting older, we gotta try.

Personally I’d offer Ayton, a contract and a couple picks for LeBron. If the Lakers aren’t trading him I’d go after Siakam. Go and get Eric Gordon for Payne/Saric and a pick. I’d throw the tax MLE at Hartenstein.

Paul/Booker/Bridges/James or Siakam/Hartenstein
Gordon/Johnson/Crowder

There’s your 8. Fill the rest with whatever you can.

PG is the priority for me, then a stretch 4. Ayton is our, Cam probably too.

John Collins is probably attainable, not much there for a PG.

Still think KAT for Ayton gets discussed. Both need a new spot.

I would do Ayton for KAT…we’d probably have to throw in some extra though

A helpful reference, the Suns cap sheet: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/phoenix-suns/yearly/cap/

Funny how opinions change from series to series. First series I was like nope, Ayton all the way. After the abomination of his play, yes please, KAT all day.

KAT gives you dimension on offense Ayton doesn't, he also plays aggressively unless he's not getting the ball, then he pouts.

I do have some concerns about him as he’s not exactly a mature player, but I feel like CP3 and Book would be better influences than Pat Bev

I've long been on the KAT for Ayton wagon, so I'm all over it if presents itself.

Ya I’ve been on it too…I wonder what Minny would think

At this point, I am on board, but the Suns will also need to move on from CP3 as well.

A S&T with Minnesota involving KAT simply isn't possible. Why would they put a max offer in front of Ayton when they have a similar guy already filling that role who's deal will expire sooner? Even if the Suns sweeten the deal, which they would need to, Ayton can refuse to sign with Minnesota out of spite.

It might come down to us just matching a max offer and trading him later

Dame Time. I don’t know how. But I’m all in on it. SnT Ayton and Paul. Building around Book and Dame would be more sustainable. Too many mid ranger shooters to some extent killed us as well.

That's right. But man will it make for a rough locker room until he's dealt.

Here’s some thoughts on S&T:

KAT, Siakam, and LeBron have been mentioned.

Ben Simmons?
Miles Bridges?
John Collins?
Beal?
AD?
Grant and a 1st?
Rudy?
Sabonis?

That's not addressing the issue of needing a third guy who can be an offensive engine. Dame would just be replacing Paul and the Suns would have to over pay for a free agent.

I want Saddiq Bey and The Pistons first in a S&T. That is my dream.

I would do that for sure…I threw grant in mostly as a contract. No clue who I’d draft though
