Nice start to SL. The team looked good overall and was sticking to the offense and style with our kind of ball movement. The Lakers played like a bunch of young guys looking to stand out individually.

Ish's corner 3 looked really good. At times he looked like a bigger version of Jae and was always talking to his teammates during breaks. Wish he'd hit the boards more with his strength and athleticism but typically our 4s fan out and aren't crashing.

Sarr looks the part and does everything pretty well. Has a good feel for things on both ends. Very much an OKC type of young guy - like Roby and JRE. He should stick somewhere but still needs to get stronger.

Reath looked pretty good too, moving well in the offense and getting his shot off. Nice size, good hands and feel for the game.

Wasn't overly impressed with our guards tho they played well and ran the offense. Thought Wright's on the smaller side and struggled with some pressure. Caver was OK but didn't really stand out. King struggled from 3 but got into the lane a few times.

Generally, it looks like we did a good job finding some bigs who fit with our offense. Doesn't mean we'll sign any of them, but they all had good awareness, good hands, could play a bit on the perimeter off DHOs. These weren't raw bigs or athletes just rebounding and dunking. None of our guards could really generate their own offense tho. Not a lot of attacking off the dribble or shot creation- while that's not how we play, it's been a weakness and looking for some younger plays who can flat out score might serve us well.

I'm on vaca and will watch when home. Who's coaching?
They won handily

They shot the ball much better than the Lakers did. Wainright looked like the best player out there.

Former Sun Paris Bass looked pretty good for the LA.

Thanks. Anybody know who is coaching the Summer Suns?
Steve Scalzi, an assistant and player development coach.

Thanks. Kind of weird that I've never heard of or seen this guy on the sidelines before.

It would be a feather in Jones' cap if Ish were a solid contributor next season.

We basically have 5 minimum contract guys and it feels like they might be our replacements for 5 higher salary guys from last year.

McGee(6 million) - replaced by Biyombo
Crowder(10 million) - replaced by Ish
Craig(5 million) - replaced by Okogie
Shamet(9 million) - replaced by Lee
Saric(9 million) - replaced by Landale

How would we feel about that? Obviously only works if we’re getting KD, but it’s a little worrisome to think we might be relying on rotation minutes from 5 minimum guys.

Well, Sarić didn't play last year, so anybody can replace 0 minutes, and I don't see Wainright replacing Crowder any time soon.

KD would be the real replacement for Crowder…But mostly I’m meaning Wainright could be a regular rotation guy next year.

I actually didn't love how Ish played the first game. Loved the fact that his 3-point shot looked smooth, but he played kind of a lazy game on O and D. No help D, hung out on the perimeter, didn't use his size to dominate in any way. It very possibly had to do with the fact that he just got in from Rwanda. He's a good 8 years older than most of the players, so I wouldn't have minded seeing a little more physical dominance.

How do they look today? Aren't they playing right now?

Not much shooting today - they were down 19 at halftime and got back within 11 but the deficit is 23 now.

Meh, no one's really stood out. It's SL guys running the Suns offense, except the shots aren't falling. Not a lot of shot creation outside of King, who's not all that good. Sarr's looked good again, Wiz are flying around on defense and making it tough on our guards.

I hate that Reath got injured. I think he might be worth a roster spot.

I'm not so sure Ish Wainright is and NBA-quality player.
