In a lot of ways, I hope we just match, tell everyone very publicly that we're competing for a championship now and in the future and won't be making any trades that don't align with those goals. And then go about business under the assumption that the Nets aren't going to trade KD.

Windy just said Pacers have been working with Suns to find a deal they both agree on but couldn't. So Indy is moving forward. It probably was just a Turner for Ayton swap.

We have to match. We have a few hours to try to work out a S&T, but I don’t think Indiana is going to offer us anything worth it. Turner and a pick is nowhere near good enough, and the Pacers won’t offer more than that, if they even offer that.

The Suns cannot just let him walk. How would that look letting a productive #1 pick leave for absolutely nothing?

I wish I had insight on these negotiations just to know what the hold up was. It would be funny if, for instance, we just couldn't do a deal without getting Jalen Smith back

The Suns will absolutely screw this up.

Best guess is it either turns into a S&T for just Turner, or they let Ayton walk.

Suns will not match, and Indiana knows it.

Suns FO is stupid because Sarver won't be willing to pay Ayton for half a season (he can be traded after January 15th).

Matching is the biggest play we have that would fuck over the Pacers. So that is what we leaked to Woj to post for us.

Does the BYC impact all season, or just if it is a S&T? Like if we match, can we then trade him later for full 30.9M+/-25% value?

If we haven't shown interest in a S&T that means we want to keep him, like Jones said.

Woj says the Suns haven’t been willing to negotiate a sign and trade. Windy days they have been working on a deal both sides agree on. Which is it? It can’t be both.

Saying a lot. Suns don’t leak to Woj often. Nice to see a little backbone in the media.

GAMBO SAYS SUNS MAY MATCH and are willing to spend $100M in luxury taxes to win a championship! Suns just told him this (the latter) on the phone! He had to leave his radio call-in in order to take the phone call.

It’s hard to have an opinion on this without knowing exactly how it impacts our KD pursuit. If we really can still get KD without anything involving Ayton, then I can just have an opinion on this alone. In that case I’d be in favor of just flipping Ayton for Turner. I would want a pick too, but I’m wary of committing long term max money to Ayton. If we need Ayton or something from Ayton to get KD, I hold out for Turner and a pick or I just tell Indy we’re matching.

Scenarios in order of my preference.

1. Somehow we loop Brooklyn in and just work out some 3 team deal today to get KD to Phoenix and Ayton to Indy.

2. We S&T Ayton to Indy for Turner and a 1st and keep assets in play to flip for KD

3. We get KD without Ayton or assets from an Ayton deal and just take a Ayton for Turner swap.

4. We match an Ayton offer and still find a way to get KD

5. We let Ayton walk and still get KD

6. We S&T Ayton for Turner and a pick but don’t get KD

7. We S&T Ayton for Turner and don’t get KD

8. We match Ayton and don’t get KD

9. We let Ayton walk and don’t get KD

So my clear preference is still just get KD

S&T not an option.

BYC is out the window with a mid season trade. He’d count for his full salary.

I wonder what the Pacers will do with the $30M of cap room if we match.
