Chuck's percentage dropped quite a bit when he fell in love with the 3-point shot and as he got older.

And Artis Gilmore (.559 in the ABA) really cranked up his FG% as he got older and started shooting less.
I don't know how long ago I came across the statistics, but I'm pretty sure Charles Barkley has one of the worst 3-point field goal percentages per minimum of 2000 attempts or so.
If you make the minimum 2000 attempts, Charles is the ONLY player ever with less than 27% 3FG%. Actually, he is the only player under 28%, and 29% and 30%. The next closest is Russell Westbrook at 30.5% (but he has over 3700 attempts whereas Chuck has 2020).

Chuck had ridiculous confidence, because you can't find another guy to ever play that had such a low percentage and even took 1000 threes.
The thing with Chuck was he was a killer...he made shots he had to make...
Part of his championship pedigree.
You obviously didn't watch the playoff series where we made the finals where we had him...he was a one man wrecking crew...

I remember Game 3 of a first-round playoff series in '94 against the Warriors, Barkley hit 23 of 31 field-goal attempts and finished with 56 points, at that time the third-highest total ever in a playoff game.

I really wished we would have gotten more than 1 season of peak Charles.

We have to have the most blown 2-0 leads in NBA history right?

It was glorious though other than the ending.

We were down 0-2 against both the Bulls and Celtics.

Yeah but then we've had two different sets of back-to-back years of blown 2-0 leads. So that's at least 4 in franchise history, not sure if I'm missing any others.

Were we up 2-0 on Dallas in 2006?

I don't think so. If I recall correctly, Raja came back to help us tie the series in game 4.

Ya, just 1-0. I looked and the two rockets series and Bucks/Mavs are our only up 2-0 and lose instances.

I wish Ayton had prime Dwight's mentality. He was so good.
Eh. I mean yeah, Dwight demanded the ball, and he was aggressive, but there was also a lack of self-awareness there too. So I can't bring myself to wish for that.

This is such a perfect graphic to illustrate the shortcomings of Ayton, and how misleading his stats are without context. You could take any of those guys at that point in their careers and they were all (maybe not Howard) significantly better than Ayton - like two tiers higher than him.

Yet he has the better field goal percentage, so clearly he is amazing and worth the max.

It reminds me of the Eric Bledsoe fanboys that always use to tout the stat argument "LeBron James and Eric Bledsoe are the only players averaging at least 15/5/5" or whatever the averages were - so clearly that proved Bledsoe was AMAZING. Ugh. That was so obnoxious.

Ayton is very good at making his shots, and if he could just add some type of self-creation and creating contact, it would put him in those tiers. It takes a bit of change in mentality, and perhaps he avoids contact to protect himself from injury. Idk

I'm not holding my breath. You don't sign a guy to a max deal and then hope he gets better to make the deal more palatable. I just don't have the stomach for more disappointment and frustration. I don't enjoy waiting for DOMINAYTON to make his guest appearances 2-3 times a month. I'm just going to ignore it and move on.

Gambo is hearing neither side has interest in a sign-and-trade. Suns are not interested in anything on Pacers' roster.
I had to come back to this because at the time of reading it, the first thing I thought was, "well, we know he has no interest in Tyrese Haliburton." LOL. James Jones really scares me sometimes.

Or Gambo could be misquoting something as simple as "the Suns are not interested in anyone available on the Pacers' roster"

We take too many of these snippets as factual representations of what is going on - when many of them conflict with each other.

Must be something personal between him and Haliburton.

Monty's comments from last season, (something like "We really liked him leading up to the draft, but we couldn't get him") still make my head spin. I wish a reporter had followed up on that response.
