Eesh! Not good. Not sure how he snowed James Jones so thoroughly if that's the case.
I also heard Williams say good things about him. I guess he’s snowed them all since you guys know what’s real. All I know is what I’ve read online which we all know is guaranteed to be facts and tell you everything you need to know about a person.
He is their boss.
True, but you don't say something that strong unless you believe it.
He is talking to the media, and as a GM, he knows his job is to basically tell them what he wants them to hear, and what his bosses want them to know. It isn't to tell the truth.

But I appreciate your positive attitude.

I have a hard time believing that both Jones and Williams got together and made a plan to say positive things about Garvin. They only know what they've experienced thus far and it may be minimal. I don't know. Anyway, I don't know anything about the guy other than what I've read online. Hopefully we won't hear anything about him as he'll stay in the background and out of the way.

Yuck. Already not a big fan of Jones, c'mon man.
Oh, didn’t know you knew Garvin personally. Enlighten us.
He publicly stood with Sarver when the report came out, and then is Sarver's hand-picked stand in. That says enough.
Maybe. But I haven’t met him and Jones has.
Jones also publicly said Sarver is a good dude when the first report came out.
You don't think Jones' opinions aren't, you know, based on his personal interactions with the people he's talking about? I'm sure he hasn't been present when lewd sexual misconduct or the n-word was being thrown around. It's like you talking highly of a great friend of yours to others and finding out a month later that your great friend is a pedophile. Should everyone hang you to the cross because you were wrong based on the person you knew? This is a bunch of garbage how you and others are piling on Jones and others for making positive comments about folks but are eventually wrong based on their actions towards and around others, not James Jones.

Don't try to argue this. Apparently, Jones and others should know the people 110% that they make positive mention regarding. If it's later found out that person is a POS, James Jones and Williams are just liars covering up for their boss(es).

Do you guys also believe Jones when he said our current team is better than the team we had last year?

This year vs. last year? I think so. I think Cam J as the starter is better than Crowded. I expect Cam J and Bridges to step up this season with the experience of last season and more from Ayton. I don't think we can measure which team is better based on regular season results, considering last season was a franchise record. I expect this team to find balance and not try to win the regular season so they can go deep in the playoffs.

Do you think this team is worse? Would love your take.

I don’t know that it’s worse…it’s definitely thinner on the bench. A Crowder trade might help there, but we’ll see. My issue is we have a pretty fatal flaw that I don’t think we addressed. We are taking the Jazz route of ignoring what didn’t work in the playoffs and hoping we get a different result next time.

We still sorely lack backup guard depth which I feel like was our Achilles heel last season. If they are expecting Shamet and Cam Payne to play better this year as our answer, good luck. We're also back to being thin at C. Can I take back my opinion of us being better this season? Ugh.

We took last year's team, and are subtracting our starting 4 and our #1 big off the bench. We replaced that with end of bench guys in Okogie and Lee and Landale. Not sure how you see that as an upgrade. Maybe you are thinking that a post ACL Dario will make up the difference and a whole lot more?

We clearly did everything we could to land KD, and that fell through. I am not blaming Jones for that, you have to swing for the fences.
We had a back up plan in Barnes, but that fell through, too.
Then Jones just went waiver wire shopping.

We didn't improve. Hopefully we have some other things lined up this year, or maybe Ayton finally turns the corner. Or Bridges on offense. But on paper, we are worse right now.

We can’t really know until we see how much any of Booker/Ayton/Bridges/Johnson have improved, and how much Chris Paul has fallen off.

But in the meantime, Jones needed to improve the team externally and so far has been unable to do so.

Yeah. I mulled it over after I posted and you're right. Back to James Jones. I wouldn't expect him to say "we are a worse team this year" during media day. Which I guess lends itself to our prior debate. I wouldn't expect him to say "our interim GM is a really bad person and it's unfortunate Robert Sarver selected him". So there probably is an element of not being fully transparent when pressed about certain people from our GM. But I still believe that there are times when you're just wrong. He might only know the interim GM as a good person in his interactions. Hard to say.

I think we're about even. Cam and Jae are a wash IMO, so are Biz and JaVale. If we're relying on Okogie, Lee or Landale for any amount of extended playing time we're in trouble regardless. But I do like those additions over Elf (sucked), Holiday (smaller guard) and Frank (always hurt).

We're bound to lose more games, so we'll be "worse", but I think we'll be steady again and play the way we have been. I'm hoping Landry ups his efficiency and we see more dribble drive game from Cam as a starter. That makes us better. Any kind of consistency from Payne makes us dangerous.

Even if that's true, we have no 6th man now.

And yeah, I don't expect us to win as many regular season games as last year. I hope we learned our lesson to concentrate on the playoffs rather than the regular season.

I was rather surprised to find out that one of my high school friends, who was also a school teacher, was arrested for having child pornography on his computer at home. And while this is not as outwardly obvious as Sarver's behavior, I'm sure Sarver treated Jones, Williams and the players differently than he treated the woman in the marketing office or the guy in the ticket office, because to a person with Sarver's management style those people are "a dime a dozen". I don't doubt that they did see some things that now, after the fact makes then connect the dots and see him for what he is, but I can see where it might not have been obvious to them.

My point is, you really don't know what someone is thinking, and without proof that Williams of Jones saw something egregious first hand, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Eh, I never really saw Cam as one. He was more like a 6th starter who split time with Jae. Now the spot is his, he'll move up from 26 to 32ish mpg, TC and Ish fill in the remaining spot minutes. Plus Dario!
