I saw a few plays here or there but neither of those guys were really put in a position to create when it mattered. Hopefully this is something we work on with more conviction this year.

I feel like we've said that and even seen it at times during the season for some stretches with Mikal and Cam bringing the ball up and running offense but it never really sustains. We need them to be more aggressive halfcourt scorers, not just bringing the ball up and running some screen and rolls.
I agree we need them to be more aggressive, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen this or heard this before. The closest we’ve seen it is when Crowder brought the ball up against the Pelicans, but that was just to avoid the ball pressure on CP3. I can’t ever recall Mikal or CamJ bringing the ball up as part of some sort of strategy.
There were times last year where CP would throw the ball to one of them in the backcourt to keep it and run offense. We were using Mikal in that ballhandling role a bit but it was never anything consistent.
yeah, felt like it happened on less than 20 possessions all season, though.

Those Booker tweets are stupid. Sure, judge the guy by one bad game where the whole team played badly and he may have had COVID. Just ignore his whole season and playoff run.

There’s no “may” if you ask Indy

Sorry to break it to you guys, but there was no way we were winning the title last year. Majority of bettors had us winning the championship. No way the casinos and by proxy the nba was going to take that kind of loss. It was pretty obvious from the beginning of that game 7 we weren’t going to be getting any calls.

Don’t take this shit too seriously, it’s borderline become the wwe. Just sit back and enjoy it.

The refs could have called every borderline call in our favor in that game 7 and we still would’ve been toast. We got annihilated, simple as that.

We might never really know what happened, but that wasn’t the same team we watched all year. There’s a combination of things at play, Dallas certainly found a major weakness in our scheme, Monty refused to adjust, but we also just weren’t the same team.

Had the regular season team been there, we still win pretty easily even with Dallas attacking our scheme weakness and just picking out Luka’s defensive matchup every time. But something else was off. Was it Covid? It would at least explain our incredibly lackluster effort. I’m not saying it was that, but there is certainly a lot of smoke that it was that. CP3 particularly clearly had something wrong with him. He went from otherworldly against NOP to Raymond Felton overnight.

All that being said, we still have the issue of being completely reliant on Book/CP3 to run the show. We absolutely need a 3rd guy who can take some of that responsibility. We didn’t acquire that in the off season and I’m doubtful that exists in any of our other players. I hope I’m wrong, but even if we look great in the regular season again, I think the right team will expose us come playoff time. Specifically LAC and GS will be incredibly difficult for us to beat and I think would both expose us.

Thinking about potential buy-out candidates that we can use our TPMLE on. Any thoughts? Clearly there is nothing left on the FA market.

Guys I came up with:

Mike Conley: Probably not likely as Utah probably likes him and would want to get something out of him, but if he asks for one, they might grant it.

Eric Gordon: Probably the player I’d most like in a buyout, but again Houston probably thinks they can get something for him. Probably right to be honest.

Kemba Walker: He’s ok I guess.

Who else could actually make a difference?

Ayton is the only one of our bigs in this clip that doesn't make a move to the basket. Just sayin'.

I think people forgetting Covid exists moreso this year plays a big part. Cardinals and Dbacks sucking helps.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

It was an unbelievable turnout, very long line to get in before doors even opened but still was able to get corner seats in the 15th row.

Ayton was knocking down threes from both corners. A few highlights, plus a couple of his moves toward the hoop.

Cam Payne addressed the crowd and CP3, Payne, and Landale stayed after practice to shoot some more. Overall, the mood and vibes seemed good from the fans and the team.
