Cool. The Mavs have both Doncic and Campazzo. Our home opener should be fun.

Gonna make the bold prediction that nothing gets done with Cam’s extension.

Now we know that Cam J it’s on the table for a posible trade this year.

With an extension, he would become a Poison Pill Player, making him very hard to include on deals. It’s a business after all.

So Cam basically wanted Mikal money? Was he 4/90 or 4/100?

Mikal signed for 4yr/$90M, so yeah, close to the same.

IMO, Mikal has one of the most team-friendly contracts in the league, but I could see the Suns using his deal as leverage to sign Cam for less than the "reported' $85M.

Joe Johnson part 2. Quibbling over a few million. The dysfunction just never ends with this team.

No one is going to offer Cam a contract like the one the Hawks did for Joe Johnson.

I think he’s referring to not locking him up over a relatively meager difference. I don’t think that analogy is terribly off. What happens at next off season tho is anybody’s guess. I also don’t think he gets a max offer but if we end up losing him I would be very very disappointed.

The small difference is the only part that is comparable. Pretty much everything else (GM, role, age, talent, etc.) are different.

JJ was over 5 million…less than a million a year over the life of the contract. This is 13 million…3.25 million a year. Small enough that I do think we should have done it, but not as bad as passing on the JJ deal.

Cam Johnson vs. PJ Washington, two guys who didn't get extended. PJ is two years younger.

Yeah but this is almost twice as much money overall, so percentage-wise there is very little difference.

If this ends poorly, I guess we can bookend Sarver's time as owner with the Johnson & Johnson fiascos.

In what kind of math is 85 mil twice 75 mil?
