Game Day: Mavericks (0-0) @ Suns (0-0), Wed 10/19/22

Post by Superbone »

Time: 7:00 pm AZ (7:00 pm PT/10:00 pm ET)
Place: Footprint Center, Phoenix, AZ
TV: ESPN

The Phoenix Suns home opener is finally upon us! We will be matched up with the Dallas Mavericks who ousted us in an ugly game 7 to end our playoff run last season. Will we get redemption? Will the Mavs enforce their newfound dominance on us? Is this just one game out of 82 regular season games?

Let’s go Suns!! It’s nice to have a game day thread back up again, isn’t it?
And to answer your questions, no (regardless of result), maybe and yes.

Hoping we see a few new things from the Suns, including Ayton using his physical advantages much more than he did in the playoff series, and less offensive reliance on CP3 and Booker. (Oh, and a win would be nice as well)

The Suns scored 27 points total in the first half of their last game against the Mavs and went on to be totally humiliated and booed off the court by the Suns home crowd. Booed off your own court in a game 7 of the payoffs. Ouch! That game will forever be etched into my mind as the biggest choke ever by any Suns team in their entire history.

Lots of unanswered questions remain. What happened? What really happened? The Suns almost got KD, but didn’t and it seems to have hurt their off season shopping and now we might be in trouble with our bench? Crowder lost his starting job and is pissed off? Welcome to the NBA. We retained Ayton. Is this a precursor to a larger trade yet to happen down the road? There was friction between Monty and Ayton in that game 7 and someone mentioned they aren’t talking still.

I have to admit, my expectations have lowered a few notches since last year. My attitude is a little more jaded after game 7 too. Will the new bench guys win us over and more importantly help the Suns win a few games? I’ll try to keep an open mind.

Go Suns

I’m very intrigued by the Ayton-McGee matchup.

Heck yeah! Thanks Bone for making our first Game Day thread; what a delight it is to have a real Suns game on tonight. Lot of emotions after last season's playoff series. I don't really know what to expect. I worry a bit that our guys might not quite be ready to rematch Dallas yet. I wish we'd had this as, say, our 10th game of the season so we could be in rhythm and really go at them.

I am really interested to see who comes out first.

Ayton has historically been a really low-minute guy for a top 3 player on a team. And he usually was visibly tired before everyone else. But all of the reports talk about how he came into camp in great shape.

I want to see that tonight against McGee, that isn't known for being able to stay on the court very long. It has been over a decade since he averaged 25 mpg.

I think it’s important for people to not overreact to this one game, if we lose it’ll be a bummer, we win it’s feel nice but it’s just one fuckin’ game. We are gonna flammed on twitter no matter what. All I ask is for people chill with their hot take takes tonight.

Anyways, having all said that, I think we’ll get asses fuckin kicked. Too many bad vibes to go around

132-86 final. Mavs win and Luka memes galore.

If we lose by 46, it’s not just one game. That would speak very loud about what kind of team this is. People will be right to flame us if that happens and they should be booed

Favorite night of the year! Please kick the shit out of Luka Dadbod and the Mavs. Fans were way too cocky about beating us only to lose in the next round. Show me some fire Suns!

Ngl, now that I put the vibes out there, I’m extremely worried. Good news is if we lose by 46 it’s my fault and not the teams so it is just one game lol ;) no need to overreact.

I'll say one thing. I'm glad Brunson is no longer on the Mavs. That little f'er hurt us in the playoffs last year.

Bledsoe is still available. If anyone could lead us to a 45 point loss it'd be him.
