How is it the Suns have 9 coaches on staff but they still can't diagram a play to get a good shot at the end of a game?

Heat pushed the limits with their physical d but we have consistently not been able to deal with that when teams do so. Unfortunately 3 of the 5 on court for the last shot where never going to take it and Heat knew that. Butler did cover Booker very well to be fair.
Not a bad loss but could have been a real nice character win.

Payne had a really good look. I thought Ayton should’ve just gone up after he got the offensive board. Once we reset out to Booker, he had to just go. If we bring a screen they would’ve just trapped it. Just incredible defense by Butler. Maybe should’ve called a timeout, but I mostly just tip my cap to Butler.

Haven't read this thread yet, but watching it tonight my sense was that they let the Heat mug us defensively on every possession and never called it. Hard to win when the refs swallow their whistles.

The Heat were more aggressive attacking the rim, so it’s no surprise they got more calls…it just seemed like a lot of them were auto calls with the refs just expecting contact. At one point they had called like 3 fouls on the heat and we had to use a challenge to overturn a call where no suns player even touched the heat player.

22 fouls to their 10. We missed a ton of layups but this also hurt.

I thought Ayton was loafing the first half then he got fired up in the 3rd after Bam was ragdolling him and he seemed to do much better. Then he got hit in the eye and he lost his mojo again

Cam Payne shot selection was mostly brutal all night.

Wasted game from Washington. He was lights out. Good for him

Agreed with that. Ayton was fantastic in the third but had a few costly lapses in the 4th.

I’m not even half way through the 2nd quarter but man oh man, Duane Washington Jr! And I liked Ayton’s aggression in the first quarter.

Jock replacing Ayton in the missing easy layups you should've dunked category early.
Yep, thought the same thing. Yelled my customary “Dunk the ball!” usually reserved for Ayton.

Because he’s not a second string center.

Atrocious officiating. But you have to have better coaching in close games down the stretch. And Monty always refuses to call timeouts. It's ridiculous.

Please tell me you guys saw all those missed opportunities to get Ayton the ball. Especially Cam Payne always refuses to give it to DA and instead shoots 4-17 from the field. DA should never be 8-10 from the field. Ever. And yet it happens all the time. When can we start blaming the coach?

Maybe DA will have to do what he did that one play and just pick up a 3-second call every time they won't get him the ball, until his teammates get the idea.

Payne does miss him from time to time, but Payne isn’t a very good passer. But this illustrates why most of us want him to be more aggressive. If he was more aggressive and attacked on his own more, he wouldn’t be reliant on guys like Cam Payne getting him the ball.

Well, I could see that coming when the Heat made the big run in the 4th. Ayton totally losing Bam who came in unimpeded for the put back killed us.

Overall, I thought most of the guys played well, including Ayton (though only 13 combined FRBS). Torrey was all over the place. I didn’t realize Payne had shot that poorly until after the game (9 points on 17 shots. Barf). Those 3-4 missed point blank layups early in the game ended up costing us.

No rest for Book in the second half again. What are we doing here?
